The Alice Wilds

The Alice Wilds The Alice Wilds is a contemporary art gallery located in Milwaukee, WI, USA Please see our Instagram for updates on hours and events - Thank you!

The Alice Wilds is a contemporary art gallery located in the neighborhood of Walker’s Point, Milwaukee. Established in 2017 and founded by John Sobczak and Tina Schinabeck, the gallery represents several mid-career and emerging artists. A borrowed name from a quiet shipwreck off the Lake Michigan shoreline, The Alice Wilds now rests contrary to this event, surviving through romantic lore and recollections of the hardships of her practical utility.

After much consideration, we have decided to close The Alice Wilds and this will be our last month in our space.

We opened our doors in June 2017 and the last eight years have been a whirlwind of beautiful minds, creativity, connections, and of course challenges.

It has been such a privilege to be a part of Milwaukee’s artistic and creative community over these years. After countless collaborations and interactions with artists, makers, and everyone who walked through our doors, we are sad to go, but ever so grateful to you all for this experience.

You all brought many dreams to life, forged inspiring relationships, and have created so many memories that we will hold dear for the years to come.

The only thing left to say is THANK YOU!
We will miss seeing you here, but hope to see you soon!

“MOUNTAIN/RIVER/FIELD was based off of the scrap paper hanging on my studio wall seen on the left side of the image file named pastel_pages. These sheets of paper were used to quickly scribble with oil pastels to clean them off. In the process, they eventually turned into accidental drawings.”

🚨NEW SHOW ALERT🚨

Please join us on Friday, February 28, 2025 from 5-8PM for an opening reception for:
SEE-THROUGH WATERFALL SUNRISE HORIZON: KYLE SEIS.

See-Through Waterfall Sunrise Horizon is an exhibition about the excitement of viewing, recalling, imagining, and depicting the landscape. A unifying theme throughout is an appreciation for mark making - a quick scribble in a sketchbook, a waterfall carving through a canyon, the emergence of a flower in a field of grass, or the horizon line cutting across the sun as it rises in the distance.

Kyle Seis is an artist based in Milwaukee, WI. He earned his BFA from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in 2014 and is the recipient of a Mary L. Nohl Fellowship for Individual Artists. His work has been shown in galleries and institutions such as INOVA (Milwaukee, WI), the Haggerty Museum of Art (Milwaukee, WI), the Museum of Wisconsin Art (West Bend, WI), The Alice Wilds (Milwaukee, WI), Osnova Gallery (Moscow, RU), Filter Photo Space (Chicago, IL), Neon Heater Gallery (Findlay, OH), and Dateline (Denver, CO).
