gallery was an exhibition space and studio housed in a vintage 1904 Arts and Crafts style carriage house designed by noted Milwaukee architect Alexander Chadbourne Eschweiler (A.C.E). Under the direction of Scott Jackson (former owner/director of Cedar Gallery), the gallery was a not-for-profit venue where 100% of sales go directly to the artist. CALL FOR ARTIST! AWE is excited to partner with Layton Boulevard West Neighbors on a community mural project. Deadline for submissions is July 26th.

LBWN x AWE Community Mural Alleyway Project: This project was made possible by generous funding from Neighborhood Improvement Development Corporation, Community Connections Small Grants Program, Zilber Family Foundation, and Greater Milwaukee Foundation - Reasons for Hope.

Overview:
Layton Boulevard West Neighbors and Artists Working in Education are excited to announce a new mural alley coming to the Burnham Park Neighborhood. 12 neighbors have come together in a 2 block stretch of alleyway to have their garage doors painted with a theme of scenic landscapes. We are issuing this call to artists in search of proposals for 12 garage door murals with an average size of 9’ x 8’ ft. or 16’ x 8’ feet depending on if it is a single or double car garage.

Requirements:
Jurying is open to any Artist over the age of 18. Preference is given to artists residing in or with close ties to the Layton Boulevard Neighborhoods but all are encouraged to apply.
All submitting artists must be able to create murals onsite during the month of August 2019. Artists must be comfortable and experiences painting outdoors directly onto the garage door surfaces.
The theme of the mural alley is scenic landscapes. Proposals should reflect this theme.
Artists may submit multiple proposals to be considered.
A committee of property owners and neighborhood stakeholders will review the submissions and select winners on artistic merit, experience and representation of the theme “Scenic Landscapes.”

Timeline:
Deadline for Submissions: Friday July 26th, 2019

Winners will be announced: Monday August 5th, 2019

Installation will take place the month of August 2019.

Payment:
Each mural will have a budget of $900 for the artist stipend and material budget. Primer paint will be provided for each mural.

Materials and Equipment:
Artists are responsible for acquiring their own materials such as paints and supplies from the budget $900 budget provided for each mural.

Submission Process:
Please design a mural proposal with the theme of “Scenic Landscapes.” Please design a full color version of the mural you would like to paint to best describe your artistic vision.

Attach a JPEG of your design in an email to [email protected] containing the following information:

Your full name and address
Your phone number, email address, Instagram (optional), or other portfolio site (optional)
A short description of your mural.

Visión General:
Los vecinos de Layton Boulevard West y Artists Working in Education se complacen en anunciar un nuevo mural en el vecindario de Burnham Park. 12 vecinos se han reunido en un tramo de 2 cuadras de callejón para pintar las puertas de su garaje con un tema de paisajes escénicos. Estamos enviando este llamado a los artistas en busca de propuestas para 12 murales de puertas de garajes con un tamaño promedio de 9 'x 8' pies o 16 'x 8' pies, dependiendo de si se trata de un garaje para uno o dos automóviles.

Requisitos:

Pago:
