How do we talk about decolonisation in a way that’s inclusive and respectful, and that brings communities into the conversation? And how do we talk about colonial pasts without repeating the same old biases? 🌍
That’s where communication comes in. The words we use to describe objects, collections and communities shape what people see, and what they don’t.
In the third session of our Decolonising Museum Practices series, we’re asking how heritage organisations can communicate decolonisation honestly, and work with communities rather than just speak about them.
Joining us:
🎙️ Marco Rendina, who led communications for DE-BIAS, a project tackling biased language in digital collections
🎙️ Claudia Augustat, curator at Weltmuseum Wien, working on collaborative curatorship
Moderated by Dr Aris Anagnostopoulos, Head of Community Engagement at the Heritage Management Organization, the 90-minute session includes an audience Q&A.
🗓️ Thursday 29 October, 14:00–15:30 CET
