We're two weeks away from Halloween, which means we're two weeks away from our Halloween craft party. There is no cost to enter or participate. Crafts will be available 11-2, and the museum will be open 11-4!

We hope to see you at the museum soon!

Now that it's officially autumn, the Milwaukie Historical Society is excited to announce that we will be hosting a craft party on Halloween!

Stop by anytime between 11:00 - 2:00 to enjoy some candy, pumpkin painting, and other Halloween crafts. The museum and all exhibits will be open during the event.

We had some last minute cancellations, so we still have some room on our historic walking tour scheduled for tomorrow morning! This is our second to last tour of 2026, so if you've been looking for a sign to register for a tour - this is it.

Please send us a message here or via email by midnight tonight to secure your spot for the tour tomorrow. You have until November 6th to register for the tour on the 7th - unless the RSVP's fill up early!

Do you want to learn more about Milwaukie from a local public historian? Sign up to attend one of our historic walking tours of Milwaukie! These tours cover 250 years of life in Milwaukie.

We only have a few more tour dates this year, so make sure to sign up if you are interested! There spots available for the tour this Saturday (September 19th) and October 17th.

The days are getting shorter and the temperature is getting colder, which only means one thing at the Milwaukie Museum - our curator is working hard behind the scenes to prepare for next year's exhibit!

There has been so much change to Main Street over the past few years, we thought it would be fun to look back at the past, and recall the many iterations of Main Street over the past century.

This photograph was taken in 1949, seven years after "Victory Theater" opened on Main Street. Milwaukie residents might recognize Safeway but not its location - this is because the original Safeway on Main Street was located on the NE corner of Main and Jefferson. A new, larger Safeway opened on the north end of Main Street in the early 1950s.

Our September and October dates for walking tours filled up fast, so we added two new dates to our 2026 walking tour calendar: September 19th and October 17th! We invite you to join a local public historian on a 2 mile walk that highlights the past 250 years of life in Milwaukie.

We are now taking reservations for our next two walking tours! The next two dates are: September 12th and October 10th.

The Milwaukie Historical Society invites you to join one of our thoroughly researched walking tours led by a local public historian. Tours cover the past 250 years of life in Milwaukie, and tour ticket costs are free (thanks to a generous grant from the Clackamas County Cultural Alliance!).
