Emelie Röhdahl has been weaving for over half of her life. Through her constant use of and intimate relationship with wool, she has developed a sensitivity to it. In these self-portraits, her red nose bleeds down her face, calling attention to the flushed skin and asthmatic symptoms she now experiences while weaving.

There are only two weeks left to view this work and more in “Handwoven: Between Chaos and Order”, on view through June 7.

Issues surrounding immigration have dominated the news cycle in 2026. While Minneapolis has been the epicenter, immigration has garnered media attention around the world.

On June 4, Journalist James Savage (The Local Sweden) is joining Andrew Hazzard and Katelyn Vue (Sahan Journal) in a panel discussion to explore their experiences working for mission-driven newsrooms covering stories for and about immigrants in Sweden and Minnesota.

Moderated by Fred de Sam Lazaro (Under-Told Stories Project, PBS NewsHour), the conversation will explore contemporary immigration issues through the lens of journalism.

Amber Jensen's sculpture reveals a twill-like weave, formed when two or more weft yarns are floated over a plain structure. Once off the loom, this woven piece transformed into a boat. A painter, textile artist, and educator based in Minneapolis, Jensen blends traditional methods with her own improvisational approach.

Don't miss your chance to experience Amber’s piece “A Raft to Float Along Patterns of the Sea” and others in “Nordic Echoes: Tradition in Contemporary Art.” Visit the exhibition before it closes on June 7, 2026—only two weeks remain.

The Swedish-American Chamber of Commerce Minnesota's Nordic Innovation in Sustainability and Energy Efficiency event is happening on Thursday, May 21.

This gathering is a great opportunity to connect with leaders and professionals who are strengthening Swedish American business and cultural ties right here in Minnesota. At ASI, we value these moments to build relationships, share ideas, and celebrate the vibrant community we’ve all helped create.

We look forward to engaging conversations with leaders from IKEA, Danfoss Drives, FVB Energy Inc., Fresh Energy and PwC, and seeing many familiar (and new!) faces.
