Tomorrow, March 4, our new gallery show – Material and Medium Exploration, work by Minneapolis College of Art and Design Foundation Studies Students – begins its month-ong run. Regardless of their area of artistic focus (drawing and painting, furniture making, fashion design or media work), each student is required to take a series of foundations classes aimed at equipping them with the esthetic and technical knowledge and skills to develop as artists in their chosen field. The current show offers a broad field of student experiments and explorations along these outlined paths. The work is inventive, surprising, professional, and engaging.

For those of you who like a quite environment to view the art, our “soft opening” gallery hours on Friday are from 1pm to 6pm. And for those of you looking for a more social atmosphere, the Opening Reception is on Monday, March 7, from 5pmm to 8pm. Many of the exhibiting students will be in attendance and would welcome your observations and questions.
