At this year’s Met gala, Secretary Hillary Clinton wore a unique maroon satin gown by designer . Along the hem of the dress, Altuzarra embroidered names of famed women that Secretary Clinton admires.

For the recent Women’s Voices Summit at the Clinton Presidential Center in Little Rock, the Foundation asked The Red Sari to create a collection of embroidered silk scarves that matched the style of Clinton’s dress.

The scarves were sewn and dyed by our World Fair Trade Organization partners in Kolkata, India, Craft Resource Center (CRC). CRC provides opportunities for traditional craftspeople through training and connecting them to new opportunities in the global marketplace.

The scarves were then embroidered by Tamara Harper of Smallwood Studios in Birmingham, AL.  Harper believes that hand sewing connects people from all walks of contemporary life and across the generations.

The names included on the scarves were Elizabeth Cady Stanton, Susan B. Anthony, Ida B. Wells, Eleanor Roosevelt, Margaret Chase Smith, Barbara Jordan, Madam C. J. Walker, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Chelsea Clinton and Hillary Clinton.
A limited number of these special edition scarves are available for sale at the
