Conde-Charlotte Museum House The Conde-Charlotte Museum House was built in 1822 as the city's first jail. It was then remodeled in 1849 to be the home of the Jonathan Kirkbride family.

The Conde-Charlotte Museum House is located on Theatre Street adjacent to Fort Conde. It is beautifully furnished with period antiques depicting Mobile’s history under five flags: French, English, Spanish, American and Confederate. Visitors of the house and garden get a unique overview of the history of the Mobile area.

Join us Wednesday, December 3, at 6:30 p.m. for the grand opening of our temporary exhibit “Excavating Change: Advancements in Archaeology.” Excavating Change shows how the tools, methods, and records used by archaeologists have improved, revealing how much the field has grown over the past 70 years. The exhibit will feature never-before-seen artifacts from the excavations that were conducted on our property from 1947 to 2010. Excavating Change will launch with an open house on the evening of December 3 and remain on display until Friday, March 7.
