News flash! Next Thursday, April 30th, an event of historic proportions will happen at the Monrovia Historical Museum at Recreation Park. Come in and see the Grand Opening of the Engines of Change exhibit! It’s all about the trains, planes, and automobiles in Monrovia’s history. Included is a unique display on Route 66. Hours for the opening are 4pm to 6pm. Donuts, ice cream, and music will be there. We’re at 742 East Lemon Avenue. See you there!

Experience the spirit of Route 66 with a fun-filled day of classic cars coordinated by Street Rods Forever, vintage trailers, a special performance of “Greatest Hits on 66” by Center Stage Inc., live music by Groovy Tunes, Fred’s Museum, Route 66 merchandise, food vendors, and more—perfect for the whole family!

The Monrovia Historical Museum, host of the festivities, will also celebrate the grand opening of its newest exhibit, “Engines of Change: How Transportation Moved Monrovia,” which features an exciting Route 66 exhibit highlighting the road’s impact on the city and beyond.

There’s a talk about Robert Stacy-Judd, architect of the Aztec Hotel by urban archaeologist Sven Kirsten on Saturday, March 21 at 11am. The location is at the North Hollywood Amelia Earhart Regional Branch Library, 5211 Tujunga Avenue, North Hollywood, 91601. The Aztec Hotel is a Route 66 landmark located in Monrovia, and the talk will provide some insight into this iconic landmark.

As part of Monrovia’s One City One Story initiative featuring Andrew Krivak’s The Bear, the Monrovia Historical Museum invites you to a special presentation exploring the powerful historical connections between the novel and our own beloved Canyon Park.

Local historian Oliver Beckwith, pictured here at the park, will share fascinating stories that deepen our understanding of both the book and the rich history of our city — bringing literature and local heritage together in a meaningful way. We look forward to seeing you!

The Monrovia Historical Museum is located at 742 Lemon Avenue in Recreation Park. Presentation will be on Sunday, March 1st, at 1:00pm.
