May 31st- 4 hour figure drawing and painting, long pose sessions are here! Bring your own materials. Clothed model, easels tables and chairs are provided.

Come for the 4 hour session for $35 to work on a more complete study. Drop in for an hour or two if you've always wanted to try the figure or dont have a lot of time for $10 per hour. Priority spots are given to the 4 hour ticket holders so get your at the link in bio.

The figure drawing community here at the Space has been growing and thriving - maybe its the imposition of AI thats making us want to go deeper into doing the things it cant ever do. But we love the figure and trying to capture a bit of the glorious life we see in it. Its an amazing group of artists of all levels. This is not a classical atelier - no one is judged. Its the process that is revealing and freeing and that just feels so good!

Next session is June 28th. This will be a monthly offering. The Tuesday night figure sessions are always on every Tuesday 7 - 9:30, $20.

We are having our first Sunday afternoon figure drawing session on May 31 from 1 - 5. Long pose, clothed model. $10 per hour, or sign up in advance for all 4 hours for $35.

If you've ever wanted to be a part of our Tuesday evening figure sessions but couldn't make it here's your chance to join us! And maybe you've never tried figure drawing but want to see what its like - pop in for an hour or 2. If you are a regular and want the full 4 hours to to create a more complete study this is especially for you.

Priority spaces will be give to the 4 hour ticket holders so make sure you get yours and your spot will be reserved. Drop ins will have spots available as well.

And did we mention the next show in the gallery is for the figure class? We are celebrating our accomplishments with a group show! This is open to anyone who has made drawings in the last year here at the Space Tuesday open studio sessions only. The show opens on the 12th of June. Guidelines will be on the website soon.

Mind you when I say drawing I mean drawing and painting. The 2 are inseparable to me, so I tend to call everything drawing, which is a great topic I love discussing. But rest assured you can bring your oil paints, watercolors, pastels, acrylics and your basic No. 2 yellow pencils and scrap paper if you'd like- whatever general art material you would like to bring is fine. Nothing unusual or out of the ordinary please. This goes for the Sunday and Tuesday sessions.

Fernando Mariscal show is on for a couple more weeks. If you havent seen it yet there is more to this man than bright pastels. We like those too but his surrealist work is not often shown and reveals another side of his psyche. On through the end of May.

Mother's Day floral painting workshop with sound healing 🌼 .taneja will bring you through an experience of deep relaxation through sound healing followed by intuitive floral painting with . We will work together as a group tracing the shadows and patterns of flowers as a guide and letting the creativity flow with freedom! Then we get to take home cut out bouquets from the large painting we create together plus the real flowers. Come for a magical afternoon! The Tuesday figure drawing group has become such a loving family. We do it because we love the process - outcome is actually kind of irrelevant, but super fun to look back on. The process is the path - it holds us, teaches us something about ourselves, keeps us observing and curious about life and what we can make of it, and offers a safe space to explore and play. I imagine its how music feels to a musician and words to a poet. As a visual artist the human form is just an endless ocean of possibility to me. It is hope and everything that is good about life. ❤️

We will celebrate our Tuesday night sessions with a group show. Everyone who has attended in the last year can hang a few drawings of their own selection on the walls of the Space. We've done this before amd its been a whole lot of fun! The opening reception will be on June 5. More details to come soon. And we will be starting monthly Sunday afternoon long poses soon.

Huge thank you to everyone who shows up to make this group possible, and of course including our amazing models!

Pastel Portrait workshop with Fernando Mariscal is this Saturday April 25, from 1 - 3 at the Space. Tickets are linked in bio.

Pastels are tricky because its easy to get lost in the brightness of color and the chalkiness. I've seen students get overwhelmed with such a 'wild' medium. Fernando uses that wildness to his advantage. Someone said during this recent demo painting that they were really afraid when Fernando chose to put down the bright red. As you can see he pulls it all together through continued layering and shaping of colors. He is also able to hold the form and the drawing together so the end result looks like the subject. Skill meets artistry perfectly here. Try his technique on and see how it feels for you.
