Cane Creek Historical Communities

Cane Creek Historical Communities A place to share information about the historical communities that existed on what is now Pelham Range, Calhoun County, AL, and portions of Fort McClellan.

This is not an official social media page and is not an endorsement of the ALARNG or DOD. Prior to the 1940s, many historical communities existed in the Cane Creek area since the 1800s (Morrisville, Polkville, Zula, Peaceburg, Shady Glen, etc.). This page is not an official organizational social media page and does not constitute an endorsement by or the view of the Alabama National Guard or the U

S Department of Defense. It may be reviewed for compliance with DoD policies. We are always seeking additional information, stories, and photos of these communities and the people who lived there or trained on these lands.

The Annual Cemetery Visitation Weekend will take place on May 24 and 25 from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Willett Springs will be open with port-o-potties. There will be a few Fort McClellan representatives out there as well. We are hoping the weather will allow for decent travel to some of the cemeteries.

Reminder: Be cautious of wasps, ticks, chiggers, and snakes. Do not enter any closed road blocked gates. If the roads are too muddy, please do not try to drive through them.

Have a safe and happy Memorial Day weekend!
