Gate was built by Johnny in the 90s and the arbor was found by the customer. It is to be thought to be built by Ivan Bailey from some markings and information. So we incorporated them together with an idea to put two pieces from two amazing blacksmith together. It's always good to have past customers staying in touch and coming back after close to 40 years!!!!!!

NOGS keeping it beautiful and doing great things in Savannah!!!!!!!!! Couldn’t ask for a better group Garden Club of Savannah

The Garden Club of Savannah raises funds for horticultural grants that support beautification, education, conservation, and preservation projects throughout Savannah. These efforts are only possible through the generosity of volunteers, sponsors, business partners, and especially the homeowners who open their private gardens for others to enjoy during the annual NOGS Tour.

Each spring, more than 1,200 visitors step through hidden gates and garden paths to experience these remarkable outdoor spaces over a two-day period. In Savannah’s historic downtown, gardens are a true extension of the home — intimate outdoor living rooms that offer beauty, tranquility, and respite from city life.

We are deeply grateful to the homeowners who so graciously share their gardens and hospitality. Their willingness to welcome guests into these personal spaces is what makes the NOGS Tour such a cherished Savannah tradition.

Each year, we gather to recognize these extraordinary contributions, and it is especially fitting that during this celebration homeowners receive the coveted NOGS Plaque — a symbol of appreciation for helping preserve and share the beauty of Savannah’s hidden gardens.

We will celebrate homeowner contributions on Thursday, May 21.

SOME SHOP HISTORY!!!! These gates where built by Johnny him self in 1989 for the home of famous artist John Mcclelland home at The Landings Savannah GA. It was also featured in the Savannah Morning newspaper. I have also been contacted by the new owners as they are enjoying the iron work some 37 years later. It’s always a true gift to see and find older iron work. Then i can look through our archives and find information on it. I have many newspaper, magazines, VHS tapes, original drawings, and also billing info from past works.

We ❤️ our sponsors!

Your support means so much to us, and we are truly grateful. Because of you, we’re able to raise funds for Savannah’s horticultural projects—supporting gardens at schools, museums, places that care for people, and organizations that value the healing power of horticultural therapy.

Together, we’re helping create outdoor spaces that reflect the spirit of Southern hospitality—welcoming places for everyone to enjoy, learn, and be inspired. 🌿

Thank you for believing in this work and helping these gardens grow.

Lets get the shop open and ready to get something done. The big door keep my arms warmed up before forging 🤣

Free shaping some grass on the anvil today.

I’m blessed to have several different anvils in the shop, but this little old Peddinghaus always pulls my attention. There’s just something about it.

I’d be scared to guess how many pieces have been made on this anvil over the years. I know for one job alone we shaped around 1,200 leaves on it. And that doesn’t even begin to cover what it created long before it ever came into my hands.

Tools carry history. This one carries a lot of it.
