The Saint Mary's College Museum of Art (SMCMoA) is located in Moraga, CA on the Saint Mary's College of California Campus. The SMCMoA is a landmark in Northern California promoting California art and art history. Founded by professor Brother Cornelius Braeg in 1934, the museum became accredited as the Hearst Art Gallery in 1977 before the museum's renaming in 2011. The museum houses and cares for

a permanent collection of over 5,000 works of art. California Landscapes Art is the main focus of the collection which includes more than 200 paintings from a leading figure in California landscape history, William Keith (1838-1911). The museum provides educational and programming opportunities for Saint Mary's College students and the surrounding community. Admission and events are free and open to the public.

Wednesday, April 15 from 2:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. is Quiet Book Club! Co-hosted by the SMC Library and Museum of Art, Quiet Book Club is a cozy hour set aside just for you to relax with a book, enjoy some refreshments, and take a break from your day. We’ll have soft music, comfy seating, and a selection of books to borrow, or you’re welcome to bring your own (print or digital).

Escape the rain this weekend and join the Museum of Art for a full day of programming this Saturday!

🧘 Yoga in the Galleries 11:45am-12:45pm

Join the Saint Mary’s College Museum of Art for a Vinyasa style yoga flow class led by student Ellie Keating, accompanied with cello by Désirée Sturrock.

Bring a mat, leave the past week at the door, and get ready to reset by syncing breath to movement while surrounded by art.

🎨 Art Crawl 1:00pm - 3:00pm

To begin, meet at the SMCMoA at 1 p.m. Bring your own artist’s materials (pencils, ink, watercolor, charcoal, etc.) and sketchpad. Artists will select a place on campus to sketch for 20 minutes; after the first 20 minutes, they will move to a new location and start a second sketch, then a third location for another 20 minutes and a third sketch. Artists will meet at the museum to share the three sketches at 2 p.m.

This program is best suited for 12 and up. Free and open to all.
