Connect with famous fossils through hands-on exhibits and personalized tours. Morrison Natural History Museum is a small museum with big discoveries. Inside our modest log and stone cabin is a glimpse at the ancient life that once called Colorado home. Encounter Jurassic giants like the remains of the first Stegosaurus. Confront Ice Age beasts. Best of all, never leave the suburbs. Active research

is deepening our understanding of Colorado in the deep past. These efforts nourish touchable exhibits that are designed to be toured with a guide. A visit is the perfect orientation to Red Rocks Park and Dinosaur Ridge.

The Morrison Natural History Museum is a proud partner of the Westracks community shuttle. Starting today, May 23, 2026, you can take the FREE Westracks community shuttle on weekends and holidays, 9 AM to 5 PM from Memorial Day to Labor Day!

When you park at or ride the W Line light rail to the Golden Station, you will be able to hop on Westracks and explore Red Rocks, Morrison, historic destinations, and nearby trails. No car needed. Ready to ride? Check shuttle information at the link in our bio, then plan your visit to the museum!

As the final Westracks stop, Morrison Natural History Museum brings Morrison’s significant fossils, historical events, and specimens to life. Metro-region residents can learn about Jefferson County paleontology. Some fossils and stories are only accessible through behind-the-scenes tours.

Thank you to !

As a small museum, certain projects are beyond what our staff can accomplish alone. Because of their efforts, we were able to repair picnic tables, move and set large flagstone, replace posts, and tend to our garden. Their work has set our outdoor areas to be safer, more welcoming, and more beautiful for the families, students, and visitors who learn here each day.

It means a great deal to us to have such thoughtful neighbors. We are deeply grateful for their willingness to roll up their sleeves and help us care for a place that serves so many people.
