MCHS is headquartered at Acorn Hall, an Italianate home in Morristown, NJ originally built in 1853 and home of the Crane-Hone family for four generations. MCHS operates Acorn Hall as a historic house museum, and produces exhibitions and public programming on Morris County history.

On this week in Morris County history...
After a fire destroyed the Canary Cottage in Florham Park, a "tea room" known for its fine dining, dancing, and house orchestra (as well as a few run-ins with prohibition agents), the proprietors quickly found a new location. Reopened on May 25, 1923, the establishment kept the good times rolling through repeal and today is the Park Savoy.

Long the central hub of Mendham Township, Mendham Borough’s incorporation on May 15, 1906 was spurred by concerns over available water supply. Residents called for the establishment of a gravity-based system that extended one mile in each direction, setting the boundaries for the new municipality.
