The San Luis Obispo International Film Festival comes to the Bay Theater on Monday April, 29th at 5:30.
Stacy Peralta's big wave surfing film "Riding Giants" will be screened and followed by a Q&A session with Stacy.

"Beyond the Sidewalk" a short film about the first crossing of America by skateboard will screen before 'Riding Giants". The three skaters, Jeff French, Mike Filben and myself, who made that first push grew up in Morro Bay.

Here's a film that you might want to check out. It tells the unconventional and deeply personal story of a South Dallas skatepark whose mission is to change the lives of everyone who walks through the gate. The 4DWN skatepark is a resilience hub rooted in skate culture, tackling head-on the challenges of food insecurity and social justice in one of the city’s poorest communities.

It's screening Sunday, April 28, 2024 at 5:30 as part of the San Luis Obispo International Film Festival at the Fremont Theater. Stacy Peralta's Dogtown & Z-Boys will follow the screening of 4DWN.
If you or someone you know is a little tight on cash but would like to attend let me know and I will put you in touch with one of the producers of 4DWN who has a few promo tickets available.

That's Todd Huber, the founder of the Skateboarding Hall of Fame and Museum in Simi Valley, California. Todd and I have been friends since the early 1990s. He was very instrumental in the creation of the Morro Bay Skateboard Museum, loaning us skateboards and related memorabilia.
Today he picked up what he had on loan to us, some of it had been here since 2012. He also picked up the amazing "mint" condition collection of boards that Stephen Pizzo had loaned us over the years.
Huge thanks to both of these gentlemen!

Over the last few days I have been been getting skateboards loaned to us ready for shipment back to their owners. It has been much more emotional than I thought it would be. As I handle each board I think about the hundreds, if not thousands of times I have told visitors the story behind the board. Often, I will take a quick roll across the museum floor...one last ride.
The board pictured here was a visitor favorite, especially with skaters who came of age in the late 1970s. Big thanks to Stephen Pizzo for the long term loan.

The Morro Bay Skateboard Museum said goodbye today to some old friends. Dan Perkins picked up the last batch of boards he loaned us. Over the years Dan has loaned the museum well over a hundred boards and other memorabilia. He has also financially supported the museum since it's inception.
Dan, was much more than a museum supporter, he became a good friend of myself and Eric. Thanks for everything, Dan!

Long time museum supporter, Jonas Smensgård is producing a 360 virtual reality tour of the museum. The plan is to share it with other museums and also make it available online.
We have also updated the inventory on our website.
