Given today’s crazy social climate, I’ve decided to pull out this painting I started about 5 years ago. It just seems very appropriate.

Hard to believe I started this back in the studio area we set up in the basement in Ohio! Now that we’ve moved back to Washington State, I have a few of these unfinished items I would like to revisit..

Funny story about this painting I did a year (or two?) ago. I decided to paint one of those fake floral arrangements that I found at HomeGoods (or wherever it was). It was one of those days where I was just looking to paint something - anything - for a bit of practice.

About 5 months later we’re having lunch at Enzo - a local Italian restaurant with a fun, “Rat Pack” vibe - with our friends. Had to make a pit-stop in the ladies room, and what did I see on the counter between the sinks? You guessed it - the same fake floral arrangement.

I’m now calling this painting my “Potty Posies”. 🤣😂🤣😂

It’s been a complicated year… lots of work in the back yard to stop some flooding, we lost my mom back in March, and I took back my health, losing 55 lbs in the process. We’ve built a lovely pergola and have taken a few much-needed trips.

Now it’s to get back to the easel. I think I’ll try to finish this work in progress… I’ve tentatively titled it “Balancing Act”, which pretty much sums up my life this year.

It needs a lot of help, as I only got the the first bits & layers of it done. Will focus on the background first, then fix the shadows, and make that feather more realistic. Afterwards, I’ll make adjustments to the egg, the chicken and the silver.

It needs a lot of work, LOL.

Looking forward to a fun morning with my local artsy friends.

I’ll be pulling out all the framing tools and equipment, including the point driver gun, dust cover materials & tools. Bring a piece of your art that you would like to frame, along with your chosen frame & backing board, plus matboard if you’ll be using one.

If you don’t have art to frame, just bring yourself and your sketbooj & we’ll hang out and visit.

I miss you ladies, and I’m looking forward to seeing you!

New home, new easel. Compact, but it’s a small room.

Too bad it took so long to set it up…(2 years - I was waiting for hubby to move his office to another room. This room is mine now. Finally.)

Anyhoo, after being sick and not painting for almost 6 months, I decided to paint something today. It’s just the floral arrangement from the top shelf.

This is about 2 hours of progress. Will let it set for a bit and get back to it in a few days. Or, it may go straight into the trash bin. Time will tell. Not happy with it at all. Composition sucks.

But, I guess it takes a bit of time to get back to things.
