Part of the National Historic Landmark Lucknow Estate, Castle in the Clouds is the premier historical museum in the Lakes Region of New Hampshire, offering mansion tours, dining, programs, venue rentals, hiking, and more. As the premier historical museum in the beautiful Lakes Region of New Hampshire, Castle in the Clouds provides each visitor with a look into the past while providing contemporary

comforts to make every visit memorable. Plant, a wealthy shoe manufacturer, to create a luxurious lifestyle with state-of-the-art amenities, beautiful hand-made furnishings, and a large staff to run the estate. These days, visitors come from all around the world to tour the mansion and exhibit gallery, dine in the Carriage House Restaurant or Café in the Clouds, hike miles of hiking and walking trails maintained by partner organization the Lakes Region Conservation Trust, or enjoy one of our many programs and events. Operated by the Castle Preservation Society, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, Castle in the Clouds is revered as a cultural and educational resource and listed on the National Register of Historic Places with national significance. Don’t miss a unique chance to get closer to nature and learn about the fascinating world of bees Saturday, June 13th!

In partnership with Bewitched Acres, Castle in the Clouds hosts beehives on the property, and we’re excited to invite you to see how these pollinators work. Join Bewitched Acres for this exclusive opportunity to explore active hives, learn about their structures and take an up-close look at their activity.

This program is designed for people above 16 years old. Participants will be provided with beekeeper suits to wear during the program. When registering, please select your size so we can provide the appropriate suit for you. There are two sessions, one beginning at 10:30am and the other at 1pm.

Join us in celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Castle Preservation Society! We invite you and your family to visit anytime between dawn and dusk, May 23rd through June 6th, to enjoy a fun, family-friendly scavenger hunt that will take you on an exciting journey around our beautiful property.

🔎This scavenger hunt highlights key locations throughout Castle in the Clouds. This scavenger hunt utilizes the PlayTours app. Upon registration, you’ll receive a link to the scavenger hunt.🔎

No locations require admission to Castle in the Clouds. Submit your photos by 4 pm Saturday, June 6th. Submissions will be reviewed by staff for approval.

Awards for completion and participation will be handed out at the Awards Ceremony on Sunday, June 7, 2026. The Awards Ceremony will be held on the first floor of the Carriage House. Come by between 1:00 PM and 2:00 PM to hang out with other scavenger hunt teams.

Today, Saturday, May 23, 2026 is the first day you can come back to the place that never stops taking your breath away!

This year, we are excited to debut our new exhibition: From Private Estate to Public Treasure: Lucknow after Thomas and Olive Plant. This exhibit features stories, photographs, and memorabilia of the various owners of the Lucknow Estate before the Castle Preservation Society assumed full management and restoration responsibilities for Castle in the Clouds 20 years ago.

Our newest exhibition is available to all visitors in the historic Carriage House.

Original owners and residents Tom and Olive Plant named the mansion "Lucknow", and when Castle Springs owned and operated the estate, several beers were brewed right on the property. However, the Lucknow name lives on in a new way through this new brewed selection from Twin Barns Brewing! Stop by to try this exclusive, seasonal brew and tell them that Castle in the Clouds sent you!
