𝗠𝗛𝗔𝗛𝗦 “𝗔𝗽𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗶𝗱𝘀” 𝗕𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗕𝗶𝗴𝗹𝗲𝗿!👏👏👏
As part of its year-long 50th anniversary celebration, the Mount Horeb Area Historical Society hosted its final Legacy Volunteer Reception in honor of museum co-founder Brian Bigler. For 51 years (and counting!), Brian has helped shape, grow, and strengthen this organization serving as president, board member, exhibit designer, curator, fundraiser, and tour guide. His most enduring legacy is the diverse and comprehensive collection he helped build over the course of five decades. In recognition of his dedication to collecting, MHAHS has named its Folk & Outsider Art Collection in his honor. Thank you to everyone who joined the celebration, especially those who wore plaid in tribute to Brian’s signature style!

Our partners at UW-Platteville's Dairy Science Program have been notified, and production for retail sale will begin imminently. We hope to have these flavors in the Driftless Historium ice cream case by June 01, 2026.

NOTE: These ice creams are the will of the people, chosen by selfless community heroes at the 8th Annual Taste Testing on April 21st. 𝐓𝐇𝐀𝐍𝐊 𝐘𝐎𝐔 to all who shared their taste buds for this important community endeavor!

Our 8th Annual Ice Cream Tasting drew a large crowd with folks lined up out the door! We appreciate all our tasters who enjoyed the special “America the Beautiful” themed flavors in honor of our nation’s 250th anniversary. A special thank you to Dr. Tera Montgomery and the students in the UW-Platteville Dairy Sciences Program who created the unique flavors available for tasting. 𝗧𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝗼𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗕𝗮𝗰𝗸!🌕🚀
As the Artemis II astronauts share new lunar images, we were excited to find this early 20th century stereograph of the moon among the Dalby family items recently donated to the museum. The images used on this stereograph were taken at the Yerkes Observatory and it was part of a donation that also included a stereoscope and several additional stereoviews featuring famous landmarks, natural wonders, images from Norway, and local scenes including several taken by well-known Wisconsin photographer Andreas (Andrew) Larsen Dahl (1844-1923).
