Reminder: Tomorrow we are welcoming wild little friends back for another one of our School's Out Walkabout Day Camps! We're celebrating this Labor Day by learning about Animals at Work! We will have a couple of farm animals visiting first thing for any friends who choose to sign up for our morning session, 9am-12pm!

Please reach out if you want some help signing up ! And don't forget about our upcoming dates when schools will be closed again this Fall.

Unfortunately we've been experiencing some technical difficulties with our online registration platform, Sawyer, but please know we are still welcoming children to fill a few more spots during tomorrow's BUGS LIFE OF THE PARTY themed Camp as part of our School's Out: Walkabout Series! Join us to take a closer look at all these creepy crawly and winged creatures, plus enjoy themed crafts, snacks, and good old fashioned fun! 🐛🐜🐝🪲🦋🕷🪳🪰

Thank you so much to the Shenandoah Community Foundation for choosing to support Wild Child again this year with a Community Impact Grant!

We are so grateful for all of our community support that enables us to provide connection, play, and learning that honors our inner nature ❤️

We're proud to announce that the Shenandoah Community Foundation has awarded $65,000 in Community Grants to 28 organizations serving Shenandoah County during the 2026 grant cycle.

These grants support a wide range of programs and services that strengthen our community and improve quality of life for those who live, work, and visit Shenandoah County.

Please consider joining our partner Response, Inc for their weekly Nurturing Parenting series! Your kiddos can play to their hearts' content in our space while you get to focus on the type of caregiver you want to be! Register by September 8th

The Shenandoah County Community Center is pleased to partner with Response, Inc to host the Nurturing Parenting Program this Fall!

This free program is designed for parents and guardians of children ages 0–19 and focuses on building positive parenting skills, strengthening family relationships, and supporting healthy child development.

🕠 5:30 PM – 6:30 PM
📍 Shenandoah County Community Center, Mount Jackson

Topics include:
✨ Positive brain development
✨ Communicating with respect
✨ Building self-worth in children
✨ Healthy ways to manage stress and anger

🍽️ Dinner will be provided, and childcare will be available on-site at SCCC through Wild Child: Museum & Menagerie , making it easier for families to participate.

If you're looking for something to occupy your littlest wild ones or a homeschool getaway for tomorrow morning, please consider our Supervised Play group: Pre-K Learn & Play!! We will dive deeper into the letter D...for Dolphin 🐬

🖍 Tomorrow's registration is quite low and we would love to have some extra friends to Learn & Play, Nature's Way!!

🏫 Pre-K Learn & Play is from 9:00-10:30am, but you can also choose the 'extended stay' until noon for a full three hours of fun with Ms. Heather and our Wild Child Guides!

🐾 GET READY FOR ANOTHER WILD WEEK AT PRE-K LEARN & PLAY!

D is for...
🦮 Dog, 🐬 Dolphin, and 🪰 Dragonfly!

• TUESDAY
🐩 D is for Dog, man's best friend! We'll kickoff learning the letter D with a story about a family dog named Daisy! 'Things are Crazy with Daisy' was written by local author and elementary school teacher, Alyssa Green, and takes us on a fun adventure with her dog whose name happens to start with the letter D!
🐶 During craft time, we'll construct dogs out of the letter D!
🦴 Snack will be Scooby Snack graham crackers!

• WEDNESDAY
🐬 We'll dive deeper into the alphabet and continue with phonics, using a fun game to communicate like dolphins with echolocation!
💦🎨 Beyond learning the letter "D" we'll get creative with watercolor paints and dolphin silhouettes!
🍌 Snack will be banana dolphins!

• THURSDAY
🦋 D is for Dragonfly! We'll join up with our School's Out Walkabout friends and get crafty making bejeweled dragonfly clothespins!!

You can sign up for a single class or the entire school year, through May! Check out the sign up link below⬇️

Every class begins with about 15 minutes of free play before we gather together for circle time. We’ll introduce our letter of the week and discover which animal adventure awaits us that day! 🐾

📖 After a little learning and storytime, it’s off to the craft table! 🎨 We love getting creative with mixed media, recycled & repurposed materials, sensory items, and anything else we can find to turn into something WILD! 🌿♻️

Our crafts aren’t just about creating—they’re also a chance to practice letter recognition, writing, fine-motor skills, and even writing our names on our masterpieces! ✏️💚

Once our little artists are finished, it’s time for a potty break, hand washing, and SNACK!🍎

We strive to offer fresh or organic snacks whenever possible, and we love making snack time part of the adventure! Sometimes our snacks are even themed and involve a little hands-on creativity. 😋

🌤️ When the weather cooperates, we take snack time outside! We’ll enjoy some fresh air, sensory play, and a group game or activity before heading back inside for even more fun.

And that’s just the beginning! The rest of our day is filled with games, language learning, ASL letter signing, singing, dancing, movement, exploration, and LOTS of PLAY! 🎶🕺🐾

Learning is always more fun when you can EXPLORE & PLAY, NATURE'S WAY! 🌿✨

This Monday, August 31 our Toddler Fodder class will have fun with faces while raising awareness about our beautiful multicultural world. Goofy games, music, activities, stories with both Spanish and English words and vegetarian burritos will be enjoyed together as we highlight how special each child is.
