I have made several attempts at getting the paint poured look on a 3D surface and never had success. This weekend I told Ella I was going to come up with a new process for decorating my gourd drums. I thought about Bob Ross and how he could create wonderful paintings in a very short amount of time. I was seeking the same goal decorating my drums. Something enjoyable and exciting. Well the great lightning bolt of creativity struck me! I saw the vision of how I needed to incorporate Bob Ross’s style by wetting the drum first with base coat and applying wet droplets on top the wet drum. Adding 4-5 color combinations and tapping the drum in different directions creates these unique effects with the paint. I’m amazed and love this new process I have discovered!!! Looking forward to exhibiting my new technique at Saint James Art show in a couple of weeks!!!

On this day, back in 1972 my wonderful mother, Sharon Schott gave birth to me. today I celebrate her, even though she is not here to celebrate with me. Some of you were lucky enough to know my mom and how wonderful of a person she was. My close friends called her super mom and even Mama Schott. i’m celebrating her by having her favorite meal which is a BLT sandwich, green beans and potatoes from the garden. Nothing made her more happy than a big pot of pressure cooked green beans, potatoes, and onions. For some of you that do not know she pushed me in the direction of becoming an artist and I’ve never regretted being an artist. Her hopes were for me to become a famous watercolor artist. But instead, I became a drum, didgeridoo and rain stick maker. She never lost faith in me no matter what it was, I chose to do. I think of her often and still have dreams of her and know that she’s still watching over me and guiding me. I have dedicated the top shelf of my display cabinet that I made in honor of her and my grandmother Ninnie. I love and miss them both very much, and know that I will see them again one day. I feel fortunate to have made it to 51 while many of my friends were not so fortunate. So today I celebrate my mother and grandmother and all the friends that I’ve lost and try to stay humble that every day is a blessing. So on this birthday of mine, I am celebrating everyone who has passed from this earthly plain. I am also celebrating everyone who is here on this earthly plane. I love you all! Many of you have been very influential in my life and have helped me overcome many obstacles, and you all will always be remembered. I would also like to recognize my dad, Bill Schott, and Fran Schott for guiding and helping me so much since my mother passed. it is very nice to still have living family members that are there for you! A big shout out to my siblings, Will, Leslie, and Stephanie. I love you and miss you guys! I hope everyone has a wonderful and blessed day. Thank you so much for the birthday wishes.
