I gave a short talk at the PA Historical Association conference about inspiring High School students in historical preservation. I featured the work that Northeastern students did that the NeyChip History Center. After the talk, a young lady came to me and said "I wish my school 25 years ago had a program like that." I asked "What High School did you go to?" She relied, "Northeastern."

Ten years ago, Mike Beshore inspired Charles Stambaugh to start a local history group during one of the first tours of the 1752 Peter Wolf house. Mike passed earlier this year. Unfortunately, the Peter Wolf house will also pass this year. Janice Watt who lived, loved, shared and restored the house, now must sell it. She allowed NeyChip to have the last tour. We would like to honor her by placing her on the NeyChip Honor Roll. Her historical preservation will continue to inspire many through NeyChip. Our hope is that somehow this beautiful piece of history can be saved.

Recently historian Jim McClure came, took pictures and interviewed our student helpers at NeyChip History Center. His long report was on Facebook and printed in March 16 York Sunday's News. On March 19, Fox 43 came and did a two-hour interview at the Center. However, we were most honored with Nancy Duarte Matarese, the fallen Officer Andrew Duarte's mother, visiting. She was pleased with the police display and the honor given to her son. It brought tears to her eyes and ours. We need to continue to pray for the family, officers and those involved. We need to help the Police Heritage Museum find a permanent home to remember. honor and support those who keep law and order at the rise of their own lives. Officer Andrew Duarte desires the National Public Safety Medal of Valor. Our display will only be open March 22 & 29 9:00-12:00 and March 25 & 26 4:300-6:30 but it will continue on our website.
