September is National Voter Registration Month! 🗳️

Your vote is your voice, but being ready to use it starts long before Election Day. This month, the NC NAACP is encouraging voters across North Carolina to get informed, get prepared, and protect their vote.

Don’t forget — National Voter Registration Day is September 15!

Rural North Carolina isn't short on anger. It's short on trust. Theory of Change follows three working-class mothers as they build trust, organize their neighbors, and work together to create change in their communities.
Set in the aftermath of the 2024 election, the film follows Nicole, Dolly, and Shikara as they put a simple idea into practice: that people working together, year-round and across differences, can build power and make change happen.

❤️ A MESSAGE FROM OUR FARM TO OUR COMMUNITY ❤️
It was laid on my heart to take a moment and let each and every one of you know just how much we truly enjoy being able to serve you each month.
When we see the smiles, the families, the children, and the connections made through the monthly food distribution, it reminds us of our “WHY.” And the truth is—you are part of that WHY. ❤️🌱
However, we also want to be transparent with our community. There is a cost associated with providing a food distribution each month.
Although we are blessed to partner with some amazing organizations and churches throughout Northeastern NC, The Cultivator has partnered with Mt Sinai Church of God, Andrew Brown Family Farm LLC, Sage and Sweetgrass at the Bradshaw House Inc. and the Food Bank of the Albemarle. There are still many expenses that come with making these distributions possible.
Some of those expenses include:
⛽ Diesel fuel and transportation
🛡️ Insurance
👩🏾‍🌾 Paying workers who help make the distribution possible
🛍️ Paper bags, plastic bags, boxes, and other materials
📦 Supplies needed to prepare and distribute food
🌱 Other costs associated with operating the farm and serving our community
We don't share this to complain. We share it because we believe in transparency, and because we want our community to understand what goes on behind the scenes.
Every bag of food distributed represents someone’s time, resources, fuel, labor, and most importantly, a heart committed to serving others.
We are grateful for every partner, volunteer, supporter, customer, and community member who helps us continue this work.

Elections will be here before you know it! 🗳

NOW is the time to visit your local elections office or website to check your registration, make sure your identification is in order, find your polling location, volunteer to work the polls, and get in the loop about what's going on with your local board of elections by attending monthly meetings.

This year's election is going to be the most important one of our time, as almost all of our rights have been under attack by the current administration. It's time to mobilize and make sure we get our community to the polls‼

Don't wait until it's too late - Stay ready so you don't have to get ready!
