This past Saturday, we welcomed participants to Saturdays At Todd: "Pamphlets and Printing", led by Susan Hanson, curator in the Special Collections Department of Walker Library, and Dr. Laura Cochrane, Professor of Art History in the Department of Art and Design.

Using collage, transfer techniques, and hand printing, attendees created their own small-format books while experimenting with layout, imagery, and sequencing.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for a hands-on afternoon at Todd.

This capstone exhibition highlights a range of contemporary design practices, including branding, publication design, digital media, motion graphics, packaging, and experimental visual communication.

Saturdays At Todd: Pamphlets and Printing Workshop

Join us for a hands-on Saturdays At Todd experience exploring the art and craft of the book. Participants will learn pamphlet-sewing techniques, work with marbled paper, and experiment with transferring text and imagery to create their own hand-bound pamphlets and custom bookplates.

Led by Susan Hanson, Curator of Special Collections at Walker Library, and Laura Cochrane, Professor of Art History.

This experience is offered in conjunction with the exhibition “The Art, Technology, and Craft of the Book,” currently on view in Special Collections.

Last night, Todd Art Gallery was filled with students, friends, and community members celebrating the work of our graduating seniors. We are proud of all that these artists have accomplished. This exhibition offers a look at the creativity and dedication they have developed during their time at MTSU.

This past Saturday, we visited the Science Building for "True Blue Chemistry: From Lab to Canvas," a Saturdays At Todd experience.

Led by Sarah Pierce, PhD, Instructor in MTSU Chemistry, and Dr. Laura Cochrane, Professor of Art History in MTSU Art & Design, the workshop invited participants to explore the chemistry and history of the color blue through hands-on experimentation.

Participants experimented with paint-making, indigo dye, and creative processes that brought art and science together in a unique interdisciplinary experience. Thank you to everyone who joined us, and a special thank-you to Sarah Pierce and Dr. Laura Cochrane for sharing their knowledge and guiding the workshop.

This past Saturday, we welcomed participants to Saturdays At Todd: Weaving Workshop with Reclaimed Materials, led by local textile artist Catie Beth Thomas.

Participants explored weaving through a hands-on afternoon of texture, color, and experimentation. Thank you to everyone who joined us, and a special thanks to CatieBeth Thomas Designs for sharing her time, guidance, and creative practice with us.
