is a non-profit groups dedicated to promoting the growth of the Muscatine Art Center by providing funding for its educational and outreach programs. By sponsoring an annual membership drive and fundraising events we generate monies that provide art class scholarships, community outreach programs, busing for students to view exhibitions and additional staff hours for the education department. The A

rt Center offers a diverse program of art classes and workshops for all ages structured on a four-semester calendar. The Art Center’s Tots and Preschool programs are open to ages 18 months through 5 years and include art and music activities designed to give children practice in the skills they will need as they go on to preschool and kindergarten. The Art Center’s kid’s classes cover a selection of topics from art history to multicultural programs to programs relating to Muscatine and current exhibitions at the Art Center. Small class sizes allow time for lots of teacher/student contact and a class length of one and a half hours encourages students to develop their concentration and observation skills. The Art Center’s Teen classes are designed for middle and high school students and allow teens to have a say in class content. This fun and fast-paced program encourages older students to explore subjects and techniques in exciting and highly creative ways. In addition to classes and workshops, the Muscatine Art Center regularly partners with numerous organizations in the community to bring innovative art programs to new and underserved audiences.

Muscatine and the Civil War exhibition presents original documents, personal artifacts, and a re-created battlefield campground to explore the stories of the Muscatine people who endured the struggles of the Civil War. A visual projection of Muscatine soldier Daniel J. Parvin reading from his letters helps visitors encounter the realities of camp life. This exhibition feature was originally installed in the 2011 Civil War exhibition and was funded through a grant from the Roy J. Carver Charitable Trust.

This new fundraiser for Friends of the Muscatine Art Center brings together some of our favorite things: wine, cheese, dessert, and painting! The evening begins with pairings of four featured wines and local cheeses. Josh Glasson, winemaker and owner of Ardon Creek Wines, will introduce his selections that are thoughtfully matched with delightful cheeses from Cinnamon Ridge Dairy Farms of Donahue, Iowa.
Dessert will be served in the studio where artist Brianna Rivers will guide participants in the step-by-step creation of a floral painting. Ticket price is $55 for non-members, and $50 for members of Friends. Space is limited. Reservations are available on a first-come, first-served basis starting on April 1st.
