JUNE 2ND: Guest speaker Steve Snyder is the author of SHOT DOWN, the true story of his father, pilot Howard Snyder, and the crew of the B-17 Susan Ruth during World War II. SHOT DOWN recounts the dramatic experiences of each member of the B-17 crew after their plane was knocked out of the sky by German fighters over the French/Belgium border on February 8, 1944. Their individual stories and those of the courageous Belgian people who risked their lives to help them are all different, all remarkable, and painstakingly researched through personal letters, oral and written accounts, declassified military documents, and interviews – all from people who took part in the events that happened over 70 years ago (even the German Luftwaffe pilot who shot down the Susan Ruth).

Signed copies of SHOT DOWN will be available for purchase.

JUST ANNOUNCED

We are sad to announce we will not have an F-35 heritage flight this year; HOWEVER, for the first time since 2015 we will have the F-86F Sabre Jolley Roger at the Warbird Roundup! This marks only the second time we’ve had a jet at the event and not just flying over!

The F-86 Sabre chief designer was Edgar Schmued - the same man who designed the P-51 Mustang. Following World War II, German advances in swept-wing research led to the Sabre’s 35-degree swept wing. The Sabre entered service with the US Air Force in 1949 and was the primary US air-to-air fighter during the Korean War, where it battled the Russian MiG-15 over “MiG Alley.” Of the 40 American pilots who achieved "ace" status in Korea, all but one flew F-86s.
