WAKE UP TO ART! Many friends and gallery guests inquire as to which Costin etchings are in my personal collection. I happen to snap these two photos a few months ago. The sun coming through the blinds illuminated the stairwell as I walked upstairs with my cup of coffee. What a way to start one's day! For those who live with fine art, you know the joy it brings into your life. -Heather Roy, Gallery Director

"Ivory Billed Woodpeckers" and "Snowy Egret" are on view and available at ARTANA.

JOHN COSTIN - "Wings of Splendor"
Meet the Artist
Opening Night Reception
Firiday, April 6, 5-7:30pm

ARTANA's Gallery Director Heather Roy became an avid private collector of John Costin's avain etchings 5 years ago while vacationing in Naples, FL. Costin's work impressed her upon first sight for its originality, native Florida imagery, attention to detail, saturation of color and overall print quality. Aware of the difficulty in creating a fine art hand-pulled etching from her art college years, Heather was awestruck by Costin's masterful etchings. They are in a class by themselves for modern day, multiple-plate, hand-pulled etchings whose imagery is derived from the artist's own birding observations and documentation. Costin's work has graced the walls of ARTANA since its Naples location Grand Opening in November 2017. ARTANA is pleased to present dozens of his superb etchings, both large and small, to its followers this April.

ARTANA's Gallery Director is not alone in her appreciation for John Costin's accomplishment as a leading fine artist of our time. Costin's hand-pulled etchings are valued by several of our country's largest corporate and public collectors including Bank of America, Mayo Clinic Jacksonville, State Library and Archives of Florida, Tampa Museum of Art, University of Central Florida and University of Miami. To his credit the artist also has a docket reserved for his fine art book (in the same vain as Audubon's initiative) in the United States Library of Congress. This incredible undertaking will include 20 etchings (24" x 34") and text on his subjects. It is slated for completion this year. Only 150 books were created and it is almost sold out.

Please join us along with other art appreciators, collectors, artists and lifelong learners for an evening of fine art, wine and enjoyable conversation.

This March ARTANA is pleased to present two curated bodies of work by painter Suzanne Hodes and sculptor Martine Belanger. The artists' work plays intriguingly off one another with the presence of the human figure and the power of quality art to make an unforgettable impression unto its viewer.

Expressionist oil painter Suzanne Hodes solo exhibition captures the constant movement, energy and rhythm of her native NYC, with a focus on Times Square. Also on view is her colorful Boston Charles River Series and Sebego Lake watercolors. Ms. Hodes work is in more than 600 collections worldwide, museums and corporate, including the MOMA Library Collection, DeCordova Museum, Harvard's Fogg Art Museum, the Boston Public Library, Yeshiva University Museum, New Britain Museum of American Art, and the Portland Maine Museum of art.

To accompany Ms. Hodes exhibition the gallery presents to its guests "Studio Days: A Memoir" by Suzanne Hodes (b. 1939). An intimate and admirable account of a woman's journey as a life-long professional artist. Hardcopies available at ARTANA. Preview this newly released book online at:

Canadian sculptor Martine Belanger is known for her contemporary figurative sculptures, which suggest fashions as an identity. Her stone or marble sculptures showcase today's diverse society. To her credit, Bélanger was selected by curator Bénédicte Lécat to be part of a delegation of painters and sculptors to represent the province of Québec at the prestigious Salon de la Nationale des Beaux-Arts au Carrousel du Louvre, Paris, France. We welcome the return of Belanger in her 4th exhibition with the gallery.

This February ARTANA is pleased to present two significant bodies of work by a leading oil painter of our times- Teri Malo.

Collected by East Coast museums, Boston painter Teri Malo’s new solo show consists of (20) large scale seascape oil paintings whose spirit range from “calm to confrontational”. Malo's work captures the awe of crashing waves, riptides, ebb tides and cloud banks. Working on panel instead of canvas allows for more controlled detail - the clear, painterly brushstrokes are layered between transparent glazes - enabling the artist to blur edges and portray the energy and movement of the water.

Also on view are (12) large oil paintings of ponds. In this series the artist presents abstract patterns found in nature and palettes inspired by the glorious change in seasons.

ARTANA's director Heather Roy began collecting Malo's small paintings back in 1998, a few years prior to opening ARTANA in year 2000! She found the artist's lush, painterly paintings to have an unmistakable pureness and quality to them. She is not alone in her observation. Ms. Roy's appreciation for this remarkable Realist painter artwork is shared by and collected by DeCordova Museum of Art, Philadelphia Museum of Art, and the Newport Art. In year 2004 Ms. Malo joined with ARTANA. "Seascapes and Pondscapes" marks their 3rd major exhibition together.

Thank you Spotlight Magazine (Estero/ Bonita Springs/ Naples) and managing editor & writer Kathy O'Flinn for featuring ARTANA painter Robin Remick on the three covers of your Jan. 17-31st editions! The feature story is both very accurate and interesting, and Remick's new FL series paintings printed true to life. MEET MONTREAL's NICOLE ST-PIERRE
OPENING NIGHT RECEPTION
This FRIDAY, JAN. 5th, 5-7:30 pm

To ring in the New Year ARTANA warmly welcomes the return of Nicole St-Pierre . We are delighted to present her third solo show with the gallery. This year’s exhibition features 17 of her most recent and best paintings from her series "The Pleasures of Life". St-Pierre’s expressionist canvases capture the pleasures of everyday life: Family, Animals, Still Lifes, Culinary Delights, Musical Instruments and Nudes.
(St-Pierre's show runs through Feb. 28th.)

From Montreal to Boston, St-Pierre’s cubist-inspired paintings are easily recognizable and enjoyed amongst collectors who claim they add a presence of joy to their homes. Meet the painter during her vernissage and connect the spirit of the artist with the spirit of the paintings.

Also on view by our Northern artist is marble sculptor Martine Belanger’s work whose contemporary figurative sculptures suggest fashion as identity.

Set out for an evening of wine, cheese, fine art and mingling with other art appreciators, artists and collectors. We look forward to your company.

To preview the collection and to view St-Pierre's CV please visit our website at: www.artanagallery.com. (Our website is best viewed on a laptop vs. tablet or smart phone.)
