It was a perfect morning for a beach walk at Clam Pass. The boardwalk to the beach through the mangroves was busy with snowbirds and tourists catching the last sunny days before heading north. We're lucky to have some of the finest sand beaches in the world here in SWFL.

Roots of Recovery
Work in progress.

After a traffic accident and recent lumbar spinal fusion, I found myself painting something I could not easily put into words. This piece, Roots of Recovery, reflects the vulnerability of injury, the long path of healing, and the quiet strength it takes to begin again.
The exposed spine became the heart of the painting — not only as a symbol of pain, but of endurance. The lily speaks to hope. The dove to peace. Together, they hold the possibility that healing is not just physical, but emotional and spiritual too.
This work is very personal to me. It comes from a place of gratitude, reflection, and recovery.

Hundreds of Naples residents proved Timothee Chalamet wrong. People do still care about opera. kicked off its Festival Under the Stars last night with an impressive performance of Puccini's Turandot. It's the only winter outdoor opera festival in the country. Hats off the artistic director and the wonderful orchestra under his direction. Kudos to the cast, including tenor Samuel White who nailed Nessun Dorma. I listened to Luciano Pavarotti's rendition of that aria over and over again while I painted his portrait.

Thanks to my son Alex for teaching me the art of sword fighting. I'm ready to go all medieval on the world. You can get lessons on martial arts from the Middle Ages today at the Venezia Renaissance Festival in Bonita Springs.

This dance means more to me than I can put into words.

After being seriously injured when my car was rear-ended by a hit-and-run driver, I spent months in pain, underwent lumbar fusion surgery, and worked through significant pain and physical limitations just to regain basic function.

This performance was something I committed to before the crash. It required careful medical guidance, extensive rehabilitation, modifications, rest breaks, and a lot of determination to participate at all.

Thanks to my dance instructor Andrea Marta for his patience and guidance. Andrea began ballroom dancing at age 5 in Rome and is the best instructor you could hope for.

Grateful also to my doctors, therapists, and my husband for helping me safely do what I could — on this one night. 💙

Honored to share that "Picasso’s Mirror" has been officially acquired by the Naples Art Institute for its permanent collection. I’m deeply grateful to Director Frank Verpoorten and the NAI team for believing in this work and for championing contemporary art in our community.

Two thumbs up for the new billion dollar Four Seasons Naples Beach Resort. The old beachside Sunset Bar and HB's Restaurant are still here, but have been reimagined.

Thanks to author, poet, and art dealer Richard Michelson for giving us a tour of his 1800's Martha's Vineyard cottage in the MVCMA. His cottage reminds me of the farmer's house in Grant Wood's "American Gothic" which inspired my painting "Florida Gothic". Who knows, some day I may have to paint a "Vineyard Gothic" painting.
