Woodcuts Gallery

Woodcuts Gallery Family-owned since 1987, Woodcuts Gallery & Framing celebrates Black art and community while offering expert custom framing.

Located on historic Jefferson Street—where culture meets craft and every story deserves to be “A Cut Above the Rest.” Family-owned since 1987, Woodcuts Gallery & Framing has been a cultural anchor on Nashville’s historic Jefferson Street. Founded by the late Nathaniel “Nate” Harris, Woodcuts began as a small woodworking shop and has grown into a nationally recognized gallery and custom frame shop.

For more than 30 years, we’ve celebrated Black art, community, and craftsmanship—offering original works, limited editions, and prints by both local and nationally known artists. Visitors will find works by Omari Booker, Gregory Ridley, James Threalkill, Danny Broadway, and many others who represent the vibrant voices of our culture. In addition to the gallery, our custom framing services are designed to protect and showcase what matters most. From diplomas and photos to jerseys, heirlooms, and shadow boxes, every piece we frame is handled with precision, pride, and care. Our Virtual Framing Tool also allows you to design your piece online before stepping into the shop. Recognized locally by J.U.M.P., the NAACP, and the Greater Nashville Black Chamber of Commerce, and nationally by Décor and Upscale Magazines, Woodcuts has remained true to its mission: to honor legacy, uplift artistry, and serve the community with excellence.

What a night.🔥

We're still feeling the energy from last night's opening featuring four incredible emerging artists - Kendall-Vaughn Rimbert, Sydney Nelson, LaKira Floyd, and Thailan Turner.
The room was full, the conversations were rich, and the work spoke. Congratulations to LaKira Ford on her first sale of the evening - a powerful moment and well deserved.

A special thank you to the Fisk University Department of Art, Lakesha Calvin, and Desmond Lewis, for allowing Woodcuts Gallery to collaborate to bring this exhibition to life. Also, to our newest team member, Mouminatou Thiaw, a phenomenal artist in her own right, for jumping in and helping make the night a success.

What made this show even more special? These students hung their own exhibition - and absolutely nailed it. The intention, presentation, and ex*****on were all there.

If you missed opening night, don't worry - the exhibition is on view through May 2nd. Make your way in and experience it for yourself.
Stay tuned for closing reception details... you won't want to miss it.

He hadn’t even stepped inside yet… and still left a 5⭐ review.

That’s what happens when you connect people to culture, community, and conversation before they ever walk through the door.

We’re more than a gallery—we’re a hub for discovering the African American art scene right here in Nashville.

And now he’s pulling up to the show 👀
Saturday at 12PM. April 4th.

Come see what the excitement is about.
Come experience it for yourself.

A powerful piece that speaks through color, symmetry, and presence.

“Sisters in Prayer” by Albert Fennell captures the beauty of unity, reflection, and spiritual connection. Known for his mastery across oil, pastel, and ink, Fennell brings depth and dimension to every detail—creating work that feels both grounded and transcendent.

Born in San Diego, his artistic journey started early, and that foundation shows in the precision and storytelling you see here.
