True Self Studio is an art gallery with two distinct foci. First, the goal of True Self is to facilitate the personal growth of others through creative expression and learning artistic skills. Additionally, I love to improve your home or office with art work and faux finishes. In all I do, focus is on beauty, truth, freedom, transformation, humor, integrity and healing of the body, mind, and spiri

t. I work individually and with groups and can individualize the work to fit the needs of each person or group from strictly artistic work to deeply transformational personal growth.

So much of our health is related to the reduction of inflammation. In this case, mindfulness meditation decreases inflammation in the brain through increased production of a neurochemical natural in our brains. Think how much health and clarity you can gain by doing simple mindfulness for even five minutes a day!

New research provides a window into the brain changes that link mindfulness meditation training with health in stressed adults. The study shows that mindfulness meditation training, compared to relaxation training, reduces Interleukin-6, an inflammatory health biomarker, in high-stress, unemployed c…

Creating beauty, connection, and transformation through art, healing, and writing is my passion. I am a seeker by nature, always asking questions and on a quest for the truth, mine, and to help others find theirs. My story is one in which an allegory can be made of living in a black and white world as the only one who could see colors. I was, and continue to be, different and also the same from the culture in which I was raised. Intelligence and success was seen through attaining higher education and a top level career. Art was seen as a hobby. I did the expected, and neglected my artistic self for many years. After a long journey (which I continue) to be my authentic self, I am embracing my art and creating through many forms of media; writing, painting, and building things, for this is what my hands are meant to do. I am helping others seek and find authenticity and their own true voice, a rich way of living. For, this is what my spirit is meant to do. I am created to Live Out Loud in continual transformation. I am called to teach and help heal others who want to do the same. I offer to you, my gifts and art, and ask from you, reader, what do you want your life to look like? What might you like in your life, in your home to enhance the authenticity of your self? I implore you, take the risk to express your true voice into this world. It is the greatest and most precious gift you have.

My Story

I am both psychotherapist and artist. True Self Studio is a link to the artist side of my outreach and therapy practice to the community. In 2011, I took an extended break from practicing psychology as my profession, and focused on recovery from relationship addiction and trauma. From 2015 until recently, I found myself silent as an artist, and slowly reintegrating into my profession as a psychotherapist. I had to reconnect all the pathways in my body and brain that had been affected by some significant physical trauma and brain injuries as well as relational trauma and significant grief and loss. I had to rebuild myself and find my way as the person I am now, after a period of significant events and recovery. Who was my “true self” now? Seeker, therapist, teacher, artist, friend, mom... I am still me, expressing a more healed version of myself through my work in psychology, recovery, and painting. I help other people find their way when they are hurting, lost, or seeking healthier relationships. My 20 plus years of training is now enhanced by a deeper version of myself. As I have healed and grown more compassion and understanding of self, I am able to extend more to those around me. In all I do, focus is on beauty, truth, freedom, transformation, humor, integrity and healing of the body, mind, and spirit. I work individually and with groups and can individualize the work to fit the needs of each person or group from strictly artistic work to deeply transformational personal growth.
