Art crawling this Saturday? Come check out David Piñeros’ “Mundane Nashville.” 6-9pm at Studio 66, upstairs in the Arcade.

Almost two years of street photography yielded the photobook “Mundane Nashville: Candid Photographs of a Society”. In this work, photographer David Piñeros documents ordinary people and their interactions, bringing to life the social issues of Nashville. During the March Downtown Art Crawl, Studio 66 will display photographs from Mundane Nashville, along with copies of the book. The artist will be present for discussion and book signing.

Mundane Nashville is a raw and graphic account of everyday life in Music City, immersed in the “Bible Belt” and overwhelmed by record growth. It puts the community of Nashville in perspective, considering the invisible people, politically incorrect pop culture, and the struggles of minorities. The photographs are an irreverent statement on the brand of “Music City” to get under the skin of Nashville, depicting real people living here in their vulnerability. Some of the main characters in this work are LGBTQ people, individuals experiencing homelessness, and street performers.
