This Thursday Ballantyne Framing & Art began a new step into the future. Mary Kay and Marianne have sold the shop to Rachel Burger. We have been a part of the downtown community for over 30 years, so we are a little sad to be retiring, but have full confidence in Rachel to take our beloved business into the future. We will be helping out as needed over the next couple of months, so please come by and meet the new owner. Know that she will take great care of your framing needs as we have for many years, while bringing new energy to the gallery as well. Best of luck, Rachel!

After 36 years in business in downtown New Bern, Mary Kay and Marianne have decided it is time to find someone new to adopt our beloved business. Anyone interested in a creative and challenging career in a turnkey business opportunity is encouraged to get in touch with us here or to come by the shop. We are busier than we have ever been and had a really good year last year, despite Covid restrictions and shipping delays... we are both just ready to retire. We love our neighbors and our customers who have become our friends through the years and hope that someone among them might be interested in taking Ballantyne Framing into the future.

Here is a poem, penned by Ronald Hignite from Greenville, NC and inspired by my painting! This is a link to his page.....https://www.facebook.com/RonaldEHignite check it out, love it.

The House on the Hill

Every day I walk this way
And pass the house on the hill.
The house has laid there empty
Since its owner became ill.

It was many years ago I heard
That the woman passed away.
They say once the house was beautiful,
But now it’s in decay.

Her husband was a fisherman,
And one day went out to sea.
A storm came without warning,
And there was a tragedy.

His boat did not return,
But she waited late into the night.
In fact, she waited every day,
But he never came in sight.

Days turned into years,
And still she waited so.
She always kept her hope though
That she’d see him there below.

They say when she got old,
She still would take her place
And look out upon the water
With the hope she’d glimpse his face.

In time she took ill,
And she left the house behind.
The hope was of others
Her husband’s face she’d finally find.

Each time I pass the old house,
I can’t help but think about them.
After all that time of looking,
I sure hope she found him.

WE ARE OPEN!!! We are very grateful for everyone's concern, but we were truly fortunate to have very little damage - just dirt! We have been so touched by simple human kindnesses while getting things back in order. New Bern is truly full of remarkable people. We actually got to start building frames today and it is great to get back to some "normalcy". Craven Street is ready for your business so please come visit us. NEW BERN STRONG!

Despite appearances the shop is fine and all customers' pieces, both in progress and completed, are in perfect condition. We are cleaning up the mess now that we have power and expect to be working as normal next week. Thank you for your patience.... Marianne and Mary Kay

Lines of the custom frame moulding mimic the lines of the chair. Bravo! As seen in Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles magazine.

Great use making space for framed art above the kitchen cabinets - brilliant!! Found via. Curious Details blog.

This is a smart arrangement over the bed. It adds height and interest, while inserting a fun dose of color. As seen in Country Living Magazine.
