The Perry Historians published a Perry Review #28 (2007) entitled: "Remembered: Perry Countians who gave the Supreme Sacrifice" - World War II servicemen and servicewomen from Perry County.

The Perry Reviews are publications done yearly and given to our membership for that year, FREE of charge as a benefit of membership.

PFC William “Bill” Zorger was Killed in Action on April 23, 1945 in Germany, he was 20 years old…

Born on November 29, 1924 to Adam and Annie Zorger in Landisburg, Pennsylvania, William Emerson “Bill” Zorger had two brothers and a sister.
He graduated from Landisburg Joint High School in 1942 and worked as a salesman for State Farm before enlisting in the Army on April 20, 1943.

Bill served in C Company, 1st Battalion, 335th Infantry Regiment, 84th Infantry Division. On April 23, 1945, during the advance towards the Elbe, near the Wittenberge-Salzwedel area, he was Killed in Action.

PFC William “Bill” Zorger is buried at the Netherlands American Cemetery and Memorial in Margraten, Netherlands - Plot E Row 18 Grave 25.
He is also memorialized on his parent’s headstone at St Peters cemetery in Bridgeport Pennsylvania.

Older brother Robert Souders Zorger served in the USAAF during WW2, he passed away at the age of 92 in 2013.
