If you're anything like me, absent minded at times, you may have forgotten this is Mother's Day weekend. Fortunately, New Brighton has some shops that can help you out. Candles, Pappy’s Handcrafted Candles, books/plants Moden Mercantile , chocolates Rosalind Candy Castle , adult beverages Bullseye Brewing Company , food... With May flowers comes orange traffic cones...Starting this Wednesday there will be some road closures, limited parking and possible detours.

New Brighton Borough’s 2026 paving program is scheduled to begin on Wednesday, May 6, weather permitting. This infrastructure project involves the milling and resurfacing of several roadways to improve road quality and safety for residents and motorists.

The initial phase of the program includes the milling and paving of Eleventh Avenue, from Third Street to Fifth Street, Plum Alley, between Third Avenue and Fifth Avenue, and Penn Avenue, between Eleventh Street and Allegheny Street.

Work will be conducted during daylight hours and is anticipated to take approximately four days to complete. Please note that the schedule is subject to change based on weather conditions.

Motorists should anticipate travel delays and are encouraged to seek alternate routes when possible. Temporary parking restrictions will be in effect in active work zones. The Borough is working to minimize disruption near the Middle School. Buses and parents will have access to at least one travel lane near the Middle School throughout the construction period.

This resurfacing effort is part of a broader seasonal maintenance plan. Later this summer, additional road work will take place in other areas of the Borough. These upcoming projects will focus on seal coating to extend the life of existing surfaces.

New Brighton Borough appreciates the patience and cooperation of residents and drivers as these essential improvements are made to the community’s infrastructure.

Happy Friiiiday! It's a gorgeous day and I'm not going to bore you with "vote for your favorites businesses". You all know what to do and I shared the link a few days ago. You can vote every day. Besides voting to let your local businesses know you love them, visit them, buy from them, share their pages.
Our neighbors in Rochester are getting a bum deal with the much needed road repairs. So, if you don't want to vote..think of maybe having a delicious breakfast or lunch at Nesmith Diner & Catering, some BBQ from Rochester Smokehouse & BBQ or a sweet treat from Dairy Queen. Tomorrow is also the last day, from my understanding, for Philly Pretzel Factory . Side roads are open!
