Step inside the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame museum and explore our John Wooden exhibit, honoring one of the most influential figures in basketball history. The Martinsville, Indiana native built a legendary coaching career at UCLA, leading the Bruins to 10 NCAA National Championships, including an incredible seven straight titles from 1967 to 1973.

The exhibit features a special video presentation of Coach Wooden delivering one of his famous speeches in his own voice, giving visitors a powerful glimpse into the wisdom and leadership that inspired generations of players. Guests can also view an incredible collection of memorabilia including awards, letters, photographs, and personal items, all the way down to his fraternity beanie from his days at Purdue University.

Coach Wooden was a member of the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame’s very first induction class in 1962.

Start Your Engines, Hoosiers! 🏁🏀

It is Indianapolis 500 day, and while the eyes of the state are fixed on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, we couldn't help but notice some high-octane energy sitting right here in our museum display cases.

Just like the legendary track in Indianapolis, Indiana high school basketball has its very own "Speed Kings."

Check out these two incredible artifacts from our collection:

The Urbana High School Speed Kings: This vibrant green and yellow car represents the Urbana Speed Kings (Wabash County), a school that proudly carried the high-speed moniker before consolidating into Northfield in 1962.

The Swayzee High School Speed Kings: Featured on this classic purple and gold license plate, the Swayzee Speed Kings (Grant County) took the name to legendary heights. They proved their name was all about endurance on March 7, 1964, when they defeated Liberty Center 63-61 in a grueling, nine overtime Regional semifinal game at the Marion Coliseum. It was a phenomenal marathon that remains a legendary Indiana state record to this day!

Whether it’s four wheels on asphalt or sneakers on hardwood, Hoosiers have always possessed an undeniable obsession with speed, timing, and unmatched endurance. Our state's rich automotive heritage is woven tightly into the very fabric of our communities, right alongside our love for basketball.

Have a safe, thrilling, and wonderful race day, Hoosiers! May the best speed king win. 🏎️💨

🏛️🏀 Happy International Museum Day from the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame!

Looking back at photos from our construction almost 40 years ago brings back a lot of pride and gratitude for everyone who helped build a home for Indiana’s basketball story.

Today, that vision has grown into a modern, interactive museum that helps bring Indiana basketball history to life in a way that truly connects generations - past, present, and future.

At the heart of it all remains our mission: to honor, preserve, and promote the rich history of Indiana high school basketball.

We are proud to offer this experience FREE to all visitors thanks to our friends at Henry Community Health.

This Mother’s Day, the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame honors the women behind the legends — and the legendary women among us. Long before many of our inductees took the court, they learned discipline, resilience, and heart from their greatest supporters: Mom. And for many of our inductees who are mothers themselves, those same values continue to inspire the next generation both on and off the court.

To all the amazing moms out there, your love, strength, and inspiration make the world a better place. Thank you for everything you do. Happy Mother’s Day!

2025 HOF inductee and current Division I head coach of the Indiana State Sycamores, Matthew Graves, stopped by the museum today to pick up his memorabilia!

From his Indiana roots as a player at White River Valley and Butler to now leading a Division I program on the sidelines, Coach Graves continues to represent Hoosier Hysteria at every level of the game. We’re honored to recognize Coach Graves’ accomplishments and excited to have him as part of the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame family!
