Crew 152 Documenting the restoration and operation of L&N 4-6-2 Pacific #152 at the Kentucky Railway Museum

152 has been the centerpiece of the KRM ever since her donation in 1957. In 1974 she was added to the National Register of Historic Places. Thanks to the National Parks Service, the Brown Foundation, as well as the efforts of the volunteer crew, 152 returned to service on April 26,1986 and carried passengers for the museum until September 10, 2011. A dedicated fund have been established for the re

storation, preservation, and future needs of 152 with Edward Jones Investments. Our goal is to raise an initial $60,000 by December 31st, 2014 to cover the disassembly and ultrasonic testing of the boiler as well as an engineering survey of the entire locomotive. Pending the results of the study, an assessment would be made for the restoration and maintenance of the locomotive. Restoration of 152 would begin on July 1st, 2015 with a projected date of July 1st, 2017 for L&N 152 to return to service.

🚂📸 Golden Hour + Steam Power = Magic 📸🚂

This past weekend, the Kentucky Railway Museum hosted a Photographer’s Freight Train featuring the mighty Jeddo Coal #85 — and wow, did our volunteers deliver something special.

From scouting locations to clearing brush to timing each run‑by with the setting sun, our volunteer crew put in hours of planning and hands‑on work to make sure every photo line had the perfect angle, the perfect light, and the perfect steam plume.

And when that sun dipped low and #85 charged through the scene… it all paid off. Pure railroading beauty.

A huge thank‑you to the photographers who joined us and to the volunteers who made the magic happen. Events like this don’t just come together — they’re built with passion, teamwork, and a whole lot of elbow grease.

Here’s to more unforgettable moments on the rails. 🚂✨ Thanks to our very own Charlie Buccola for catching these behind the scenes shots! If you attended this event, drop your photos in the comments...we'd love to see them!

🚂🔥 STEAM FANS — SATURDAY IS YOUR DAY! 🔥🚂
Full Steam Ahead at the Kentucky Railway Museum is bringing steam power in every form this Saturday, and you won’t want to miss a moment of it.

Not only will you see guest steam locomotive Jeddo Coal #85 operating throughout the day…

🔥 We’ll also have a FULL‑SIZE steam tractor on display!
This massive machine is a rare chance to experience early industrial power up close.

But that’s not all —
🔥 Hit‑and‑miss engines will also be on site, adding even more vintage mechanical action to the lineup.

It’s a showcase of steam on the rails, steam on the road, and steam in miniature — all in one place.
