I just learned of the death last weekend of Thomas I. Pieper (at far left in the photo below). Tom was an educator who taught in North Canton, Ohio, and co-author of _Fort Laurens, 1778-1779: The Revolutionary War in Ohio_, which was published in 1976 by Kent State University Press and is still in print. He is best known for his long association with the Royal Welch Fusiliers in America, a renowned living history organization, which he commanded during its heyday during the American Revolution Bicentennial.

Tom helped initiate me into the living history hobby in 1974-75, and was always something of a role model for me. Although I joined a different unit for the Bicentennial, I enlisted in the Royal Welch Fusiliers after I moved to Pennsylvania in 1999 and had the pleasure of serving alongside Tom at several big reenactments. I will miss him, as will many others.

I am passing this along to the Mid Atlantic reenactor community. I may even be able to attend. This is extremely important, this is probably the last undeveloped piece of the Princeton Battlefield and yes it is hallowed ground in my humble opinion.
Fellow Rev War Reenactors
In an effort to save the Princeton Battlefield counterattack site from
destruction by the Institute for Advanced Study, we are calling for a
rally by reenactors in uniform to meet at the battlefield park site on
Saturday afternoon February 20th around 1 PM (G Washington's birthday weekend) . This will be a media event with political supporters from the NJ General Assembly speaking. The event should be over by 3 PM. We are working on having refreshments for those participating. Get the word out to other reenactment units.
