Dover Museum

Dover Museum Dover Museum The Dover Historical Society was established in 1995 following the gift of the former glove factory-creamery building for a museum.

The Society uses the building to provide for the recognition and preservation of historical artifacts of New London and the surrounding areas. Displays include items used in the home, on the farm, in churches and former businesses of our area. The "Brick Room" library has significant historical records of Henry County. Volunteers provide help to many visitors with their family genealogy searches,

demonstrate skills and crafts used by settlers to school groups and offer meals to School Reunion and other social events.

We are so grateful to Integrity Builders & Supply for donating their time to Dover Museum. They were a huge help relocating some heavy items from Dover East to Dover West. They even enjoyed a serenade by the player piano! Thank you for your help!

Dover Museum relies on the dedication of our valuable volunteers. Today the museum was blessed with four NLHS students who helped with important projects that included packing many items and cleaning display cases. These students were polite and very helpful. We would welcome them back anytime. Thank you NLHS for encouraging our students to give back to the community!

Many volunteers at Dover Museum provided exceptional assistance to New London School 2nd graders, engaging them in various traditional activities, including butter-making, typing names, shucking, shelling, and grinding corn, washing and ironing clothes using historical methods, hand-drilling holes in wood, and kneading dough. The children attended a one room school house and visited the train depot. The children and volunteers thoroughly enjoyed themselves.
