Real artists are born as artists. They live with a permanent drive to create, and they do this day after day. They never stop producing and never stop trying to surpass themselves. In this sense, Eddy Stevens is an artist, heart and soul.

“As an artist I prefer to communicate through my work. It’s a reflection of who I am, how I look at our physical and emotional world and how we behave as human beings. “

-Eddy Stevens

“My practice is rooted in classical training at the École des Beaux-Arts, where I studied engraving before beginning several years of silk painting. Eventually, oil painting became my chosen language — one that allows me to build atmospheric depth, sculpt light and shadow, and create the immersive realms that define my work today. I strive for a balance between detail and ambiguity, inviting viewers to complete the narrative themselves. Each canvas becomes a shared space where my visions meet the imagination of the observer.”

“A meaningful part of my artistic journey has been my long-standing connection with New Orleans, a city whose spirit resonates deeply with my own visual universe. Through many years of exhibitions with Angela King Gallery, my work has found a home in a place celebrated for its magic, history, and sense of mystery.

The cultural richness of New Orleans — its folklore, its reverence for the surreal, and its emotional intensity — has created a natural dialogue with my paintings.

The city’s audiences have welcomed the dreamlike worlds I create, allowing my images to enter a vibrant artistic community where storytelling is central to everyday life.”

“Across my career, whether illustrating literary classics, creating artist’s books, or developing new cycles of paintings, I remain committed to exploring the subtle states of being that exist just beyond the surface of the ordinary world. I paint to reveal the quiet yet powerful spaces where emotion, myth, and imagination converge…

My work exists in the space between reality and imagination — a place where dreams, myths, and symbolic transformations quietly unfold. I am drawn to inner landscapes where figures evolve, merge, or dissolve, and where narratives emerge not from logic but from intuition.”

Rick Beck achieves a cool, modern elegance in his glass work. He imbues each sculpture with its own poetry…shapes emerge and disappear within the piece as the light changes highlighting Beck’s clean, distinct geometry and love of the human form.

Rick Beck’s cast pieces are one of a kind. He begins by making the figure or shape out of clay. Next step is investing it in plaster, then digging out the clay. After editing that, by carving and changing the mold, it is put into the annealer. Chunks of glass are put into the mold and heated to 1650 degrees, then held at annealing temperature before slowly returning to room temperature. The time it takes to come down to room temperature depends on the size of the piece, which can be anywhere from a week to two months. Once the mold is removed from the annealer, the plaster/silica mold is completely broken away, and the piece is carved using diamond tools.

“My work in glass is a synthesis of human and mechanical form, with an emphasis on formal aspects. I am interested in playing the volumes of mass against the rhythm of the lines. I enjoy the interplay of the visual (visceral) versus the verbal (descriptive/technical). The work should challenge the eye and the mind.”
