Bringing Margaret Back to Beautiful Your help is greatly needed! Located in the historic Coliseum Square neighborhood Margaret Haughery monument is falling to pieces.

Check back frequently for updates and events as we launch this monumental task. The Monumental Task Committee, Inc. (MTC) is a non-profit organization committed to preserving, restoring and maintaining all historical monuments in the New Orleans area. Since 1989, MTC has conducted many successful cleaning and restoration projects on some of New Orleans’ most iconic figures. However, our work is fa

r from complete! Today it is estimated that 70% of the City’s historical monuments are in need of near-term repair or they could be lost forever. This is why MTC is spearheading a fundraising effort to restore the Margaret Haughery statue in the Coliseum Square neighborhood. As part of this long-term effort, we are premiering the Beloved Margaret Bake Sale, which will take place during the week preceding Easter (April 1-7). Participants will have a chance to purchase specialty items from local bakeries in support of the effort to restore and preserve this important monument. This event is just the first of many opportunities to help Bring Margaret Back to Beautiful!

Exciting news! Because of a tremendous and generous donation from the Krewe of Muses, Monumental Task Committee, Inc. is about to begin Phase 2 of work on Margaret. This includes erecting scaffolding, carefully removing biological growth and grime, applying test shelter coats and identifying areas in need of repair. Amazing efforts to raise funds to restore Margaret abound! Danny O'Flaherty, Noel Nash and friends are having a March 17th Fundraiser to Benefit the Restoration of the Margaret Statue. The concert and fundraiser begin at 5 p.m. at the Deutsches Haus (1023 Ridgewood Drive, Metairie, LA). $15.00 GA/$12.00 for Deutsches Haus Members.
