TONIGHT!!! ANFSN Vol 8 will have another reception from 5-8 during First Saturday Artwalk September 5th!!

And Now For Something New, Vol 8 Features the work of 16 new artists to the gallery including Sara Paula Hoffman.

About the Artist:

Paula reveals life’s quiet dramas in stolen moments and rich metaphors in small-format works. Inspired by Henrik Ibsen’s exploration of identity and human behavior in A Doll House and Ghosts, her work captures the tension between what we reveal and what we hide, creating snapshots of memories that feel both familiar and elusive. Each piece invites viewers to pause, reflect, and consider the layered stories beneath the surface.

And Now For Something New, Vol 8 Features the work of 16 new artists to the gallery including Ric Kasini Kadour.

Join us TOMORROW for a reception during the First Saturday Artwalk from 5-8!

From the Artist:

"We are blessed in New Orleans with many birds: ibis and egrets, mallards and ducks in City Park, an occasional heron by the river, or a pelican at the lake. The Canada geese are my brothers from my other country sent down to make sure I am okay. I started thinking of birds as guardians of the city, flying around, chasing away storms, keeping up on the neighborhood gossip to make sure the street beefs don't get out of hand. I know they are just birds but the world is more interesting with fairies and goblins in it. Why can't we imagine birds as equally magical creatures?"

From the Artist: On Kiraathane, Turkish Tea House

« I wanted to capture the emotion hidden behind a calm expression, showing how people often carry untold stories within them. The warm tones and textured brushwork reflect memory, intimacy, and resilience. Through this piece, I hope viewers pause and recognize the beauty in ordinary human emotion. I drew these figures when I was in my hometown in Turkiye. »

The exhibition Features the work of 16 new artists to the gallery including Madeleine Kelly.

From the Artist:

"I am especially interested in the long memory and interconnectedness of the waters of the world and of the body. As part of my practice I collect water from rivers, streams, lakes, oceans, tears, thunderstorms, bayous, puddles, and waterfalls. I leave offerings in the spirit of reciprocity, like a natural object, or a prayer or song, and then use the water I collect to make paintings. This practice inspires my curiosity: What medicine is there in the memory of the river? In the ocean? In the tears or the Sunday morning thunderstorm or the black waters of the bayou? How do we administer this medicine to ourselves and each other and the land that holds us, as an antidote to estrangement? Here in Bulbancha, which translates to “the land where many languages are spoken,” my practice is to continue to deepen my receptivity to more-than-human languages and ways of being. I consider each painting a record of all that we stand to lose as the planet warms and the land vanishes. My experience is that this sense of recognition and kinship leads me toward more meaningful stewardship, responsibility, and collective care of the places that I inhabit and that inhabit me."

And Now For Something New, Vol 8 Features the work of 16 new artists to the gallery including Paul Matheny.

From the Artist:

"These paintings are contemplative, reflecting the culmination of experiences, and the result of paying close attention to the surroundings and southern visual culture evident throughout my familiar landscape. Each painting reflects recurring visual elements, emotions, rhythm and thoughts. The results have methodically evolved. They are visual concepts that keep their secrets silent. They allow the viewer the opportunity to experience them through their own personal experiences and witness what can be learned from the stories from trees and the search for truth."
