This Sunday marks 84 years since the attack on Pearl Harbor. To honor this day, the American Legion will hold a remembrance ceremony in the VFW Post 6770 hall at 111 George Street in New Richmond, Ohio. We invite everyone to join us at 2:00 p.m. on Dec 7th, as we reflect on the significance of that day and its lasting impact. The brief ceremony will conclude with a 21-gun salute, the playing of Taps, and the placing of a wreath in the river. Please share this post—let’s bring as many people as possible to show the world, and all those who perished, that we will never forget.

Today we honored Ralph Shepherd for 70 consecutive years as American Legion Member. Ralph was the driving force that started the Military Museum in New Richmond and I am proud to carry on that tradition for him.

Exciting News! We’re thrilled to announce the launch of a searchable database dedicated to veterans from the New Richmond area. This project began with information from a booklet created by Aileen Whit, and while it’s just a small starting point, we aim to expand it significantly with your help.

On the Veteran Database page, you can search for names and even add new ones. If you’d like to contribute, we’ve provided a registration link for submissions. Please note, if the soldier is currently in active service, we recommend waiting until after they’ve completed their service, as the database is not designed for ongoing updates.

Before submitting a name, be sure to search the database first to avoid duplicates. We appreciate your support in helping us grow this valuable resource!

If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to reach out to us at [email protected].

A huge thank you to Dave Carson for helping bring this idea to life!
