Remember "The Rope" in Gym Class?
For those of us who grew up in the 60s and 70s in the US, this photo brings back a flood of memories—and maybe a little anxiety! Climbing the gym rope wasn't just physical education; it was a genuine test of grit and determination.

We were expected to scale a 30-foot rope up to the gym ceiling, with nothing but a thin, two-inch crash mat below. The activity was a key part of the era's fitness push, sometimes associated with the President's Physical Fitness program, designed to build strength and coordination.

Today, you won't find this activity in most schools due to modern safety standards and high injury rates. Part of us wonders if today's kids are missing out on that unique thrill of making it to the top!

Remember Live Aid? Well, a few months later, on November 5, 1985, the fashion world stepped up for famine relief with Fashion Aid at the iconic Royal Albert Hall in London!

This star-studded benefit brought together the best of British design (like David & Elizabeth Emanuel and Bruce Oldfield) and massive music talent. Can you imagine seeing Ringo Starr, Anjelica Huston, and even Margaret Thatcher in the audience?! Not to mention appearances from legends like George Michael, Madonna, Grace Jones, and Boy George.

The absolute showstopper, though? The moment Freddie Mercury "married" actress Jane Seymour! This was a hilarious, tongue-in-cheek runway sketch, where Seymour modelled a bridal gown and Freddie played the groom. Jane Seymour later said catching up to him, and then being unexpectedly grabbed and kissed by Freddie, was one of the biggest highlights of her whole career. What a moment for British pop culture history! 👑🎤

Known as the "Yvonne Craig Christmas Gallery," these festive snaps show her posing brilliantly in Santa hats and other cheerful gear, surrounded by Christmas decorations. It was a classic publicity push by ABC to keep the buzz going for the show's final season, which had just premiered.

These photos were distributed to papers and magazines across the globe, getting everyone in the festive spirit while reminding them to tune in. Talk about a brilliant way to promote the series back in the day! A true throwback to the 60s golden age of telly. 🎄🦇

Remembering Pan's People! 💃
This iconic photo captures the original lineup of the legendary British dance troupe, Pan's People, in the late 1960s. They became a household name across the UK for their weekly choreographed routines on the BBC's Top of the Pops!

When the big-name artists couldn't make it to the studio, these six women stepped in to bring the latest chart-toppers to life. Featuring members like Flick Colby (the brilliant choreographer), Dee Dee Wilde, and Babs Lord, they were the definition of 60s cool with their mini skirts and go-go boots.

A true slice of British pop culture history! What’s your favourite Pan's People performance? Let us know in the comments! 👇

The First Bulletproof Breakthrough: 1923 Demo in Action 💥🛡️🔫

This incredible 1923 photograph captures two salesmen from the Protective Garment Corporation of New York demonstrating one of the earliest lightweight bulletproof vests. 🛡️👔

The test took place at the Washington City Police Department, where officers watched in awe as the vest successfully stopped live rounds — a jaw-dropping moment that marked a major step in the evolution of modern body armor. 👀💥

It’s the beginning of a safety revolution that would go on to protect police, military personnel, and civilians for generations. 🚔🛡️✨

Ebensee, 1945: Bearing Witness to Humanity’s Darkest Hour.

This 1945 photograph reveals the horrific conditions endured by prisoners at the Ebensee concentration camp in Austria, a subcamp of Mauthausen. Initially created for so-called “scientific experiments,” Ebensee became a place of unbearable suffering, where starvation, disease, and brutality claimed up to 2,000 lives each week.

Later that same year, the 80th Division of the U.S. Army arrived and liberated the camp, bringing an end to one of the darkest and most devastating chapters of the war.

Images like this stand as powerful reminders — not only of the depth of human cruelty, but of the responsibility we carry to remember, to learn, and to ensure such horrors are never repeated.
