This Friday is TEEN FRIDAY‼️ Join us this Friday, March 3rd from 4:30 to 6:30 inside the Carson Family Hall East in the Uris Center for Education (81st St entrance) for art making, films, snacks, music, games, and chilling with your fellow teens😎

This week’s is a special event. We’re excited to invite you to join us for the Night of Ideas 2023. Taking place in more than 20 cities across the Us.

Activities will be happening at Vila Albertine, The institute of Fine Arts– NYU and The Ukrainian Institute of America with Columbia and Princeton Universities. Hit the link in our bio to learn more.

Fridays program at The Met features Modern and Contemporary curator Ian Alteveer and Senior Research Associate of European Sculpture and Decorative Arts Ana Matisse Donefer-Hickie.

Join us for an evening tour through the Afrofuturist Period Room with Ian & Ana Matisse. Then meet artist Fabiola Jean-Louise, whose work is currently on view in the exhibition. She’ll join us virtually for a Q&A.

Join us, and teens from the Afrofuturist Teen Council afterwards for a drop-in Mini-Zine making activity.

This program is free for teens and includes museum admission (tickets are handed out at the entrance of the teen lounge), snacks, supplies, and socializing 🥳😜🥰

Teen Fridays throughout March are presented in celebration of Woman’s History Month.

🚨FREE TEEN PROGRAM🚨 Looking for some fun during Midwinter Recess? Join us next week Tuesday, February 21–Friday, 24 for Art Explore! During this free workshop teens ages 12–14 will get to meet other teens, travel through the galleries and talk about art, and create their own artworks.

Calling all photographers and image makers! 📸

This Friday is TEEN FRIDAY‼️ Join us this Friday, February 17th from 4:30 to 6:30 inside the Sacerdote Room located in the Uris Center for Education (81st St entrance) for art making, films, snacks, music, games, and chilling with your fellow teens😎

This week’s will be featuring our super special guest: Mark Clennon! .c is is a photographer and director based in Los Angeles. His work spans across numerous publications and clients, including Apple, Nike, Time, Esquire, Target, Adidas and more. Mark, a Florida native, moved to New York after graduating from the University Of South Florida and spent the first 5 years of his professional career in tech, eventually deciding to pursue his passion for photography!
With a particular focus on editorial, commercial and documentary projects, he adeptly jumps between these forms of photography. His goal is to capture the Black experience in its totality. His images are therefore nuanced and multifaceted, capturing joy, pain, triumph and everything in between.

Join us, and Mark for a drop-in photo studio and portrait activity. Mark will be sharing some of his best tips and tricks for photo taking— so bring your camera or phone!

kick off this week! Stop by the on Friday, November 4 from 4:30-6:30 pm to get creative, haves snacks and meet other teens.

Drop in to:

🎯 Try out creative activities

🎯 Hang out and listen to music in a stress free space

🎯 Meet and collaborate with teens and creative professionals

🎯 Hone your skills and experiment with fashion, design, writing, performance, music, art and more in an open studio environment

This Friday’s kick off will feature who will be leading a beat making activity for teens!

Teens can drop into one of our studios for a hands-on art making activity.

We’ll also be celebrating the 100th anniversary of the discovery of King Tut’s tomb! With guided tours through the Egyptian Art galleries led by museum curators!

Saturday Sketching:

Sketch from works of art in The Met Fifth Avenue and the Cloisters galleries and experiment with different drawing approaches. Build your skills with a teaching artist and share your works of art with other teens. Thinking of applying to an art high school or college? These classes are a great way to build a portfolio.

With the recent overturning of Roe v. Wade, explore Paula Rego, who is known as "The artist who helped change the world." Through her series on abortion we see how art can be impactful and influential as a medium for social change and awareness. Rego’s work is a great example of art as activism.
