“My paintings reflect feelings of alienation, vulnerability, and uncertainty.”

In our latest feature, New York–based painter Yooyeon Nam explores isolation and the emotional discomfort that quietly influences our everyday lives.

What you first notice about Yooyeon’s work is her subjects’ expressive eyes, which immediately draw you in and act as emotional windows into each figure’s inner world. Their gaze urges us to take a second look, to notice the assumptions we make, the glances we misread, and the feelings that often go unseen in others.

A testament to how much we carry, even when we don’t say a word.

What does the afterlife look like?

In our latest interview, Los Angeles-based artist Priyanka Pulijal draws from the concept of the Lokas to explore what exists between the seen and the unseen. Her work considers the afterlife not as a single place, but as something more layered, shaped by perception, memory, and inner experience.

Rather than offering fixed interpretations, her work leaves space for ambiguity, allowing meaning to shift with each viewer and each encounter.
