In the current exhibition "Weaving Abstraction in Ancient and Modern Art" , textile pieces belonging to the 1960's Fiber Art Movement are displayed. Some of these greatly resemble Shoshana Comet's tapestries, now shown in the Yeshiva University Museum's exhibition "From Survival to Strength: Tapestries by Shoshana Comet." Come in to see these fascinating pieces of woven art, while you also learn about Comet's story from World War II. In my last takeover post, I thought I could share how the animations previously published are made. The first step involves creating a number of edited versions of the original image, to act as animation cells. For this I use Photoshop to move around parts of the picture. Then I just put them after each other in a video program like Microsoft ClipChamp or iMovie. Stay tuned for more animations coming up on Passover and until the end of May, when my internship ends, and thank you for following me this week! Today the installation of YUM's next exhibition "Tapestries by Shoshana Comet: From Survival to Strength" started, which is opening soon (more info can be found at the link in bio). To be a part of the preparation and work for exhibitions is very interesting, and sheds light on how many people and experts are actually needed for it, from curators and conservators to designers and directors of different sorts. The museum is a dynamic workplace in that way, combining art, academia and enjoyable learning experiences.

Intern POV. One of my main projects during the semester is helping out with research on Christian parallels to the Wimpel tradition. For this I get to dig into the collections of YUM, which has over sixty wimpels (you can see them yourself at museums.cjh.org), as well as the archives of other museums and institutions. As I am a student of religion and theology, now completing my undergraduate degree, I find it very rewarding to be able to actually touch and feel some of my research objects, and not only gain knowledge from books and theory. It is also exciting to combine my education in Scandinavian Christian history with new personal discoveries.

I'm a student at the University of Gothenburg interning for the Center for Jewish History based at YUM, as you can see proof of here, with my slightly eyes-wide-shut ID. From the Jean Sorkin Moldovan Collection at Yeshiva University Museum is Haggadah shel Pesah le-Yeled (Passover Haggadah for the Child). The Haggadah was illustrated by Hanan Fischer and published in Tel Aviv circa 1960 by Fisher. Gift of the Jesselson Family.
