Hrag Vartanian writes, “A solid concept is the core of this show, which presents works that consider sound as a material. It’s the kind of show you can get lost in while exploring its various threads.”

The exhibition is on view through July 30th, and the gallery’s summer hours are Tues – Friday, 11AM – 6PM.

Nero is interested in the ways we see and interpret the material world around us, how we relate to objects – physically, emotionally, and psychologically – and what meanings and power we choose to attribute to them.

Anne Samat’s exhibition, 𝘓𝘰𝘷𝘦, is now on view at ❤️

“Anne Samat, a Malaysian artist from Kuala Lumpur, spreads inspiring reminders that we are surrounded by love and compassion. In her solo Kidspace exhibition, the artist adorns traditional Southeast Asian Pua Kumbu weavings with humble household goods from 99 cent stores and thrift shops to construct totemic figurative sculptures.”

Featuring work by Michael Brown, Ben Godward, Adam Green, Eli Keszler, Mekia Machine, Devon Marinac, Gisela McDaniel, Hermann Nitsch, JJ Pinckney, Reneé Stout, Sam Tuvesson, Marie Watt, and Mark Wilson Jr.

In this exhibition, visual mediums of painting, drawing, sculpture, video, and installation are presented to either mirror or complement recorded, imagined, or live sounds.

During her exhibition 𝘐𝘯𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘞𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘳 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘖𝘶𝘵 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘍𝘪𝘳𝘦 at MARC STRAUS, sat down with filmmaker and oral historian Brad Bailey for 's Oral History Project.

“Throughout this conversation, Katrina reveals the intentions behind her print works, which at once represent beauty, racial trauma, Blackness, and resilience. Guided by Brad’s curiosity about and admiration for her catalogue, Katrina is confident and candid in expressing critique for her city’s complicated history of slavery and colorism. She is equally candid about her love for the city, its people, and its unique culture. Together, Katrina and Brad achieve a conversation that encapsulates Katrina’s methodology: 'Art. Thought.
