CONTAGIOUS CULTURE VOL. 6
162 photographers. 260 photographs.

Join us Saturday, October 24, from 7–11 PM at Superchief Gallery LA for the exhibition opening and book release, with DJs Bella almostdecent and outdoor vendors!

Selected from professionals and amateurs alike, these photographs document street life, art, protest, graffiti, skating, biking, music, and everyday experience, with a focus on Los Angeles.

The process of choosing these photos was extremely difficult. We received so many amazing submissions and had to narrow thousands of photographs down to just 260. All photos were reviewed without names attached, so selections were based entirely on the images themselves. If your work wasn’t selected this time, please don’t take it personally. There was far more great photography than we had room to include. Thank you to everyone who submitted and trusted us with your work, and we hope you’ll submit again.

Swipe through for the full photographer lineup, the new book, and past volumes of the series.

Volume 6 book preorders and opening tickets are live at superchiefgallery.com. Pick up your book at the opening, during the exhibition, or have it shipped. Past volumes are available online now.

On view through November 22.

With East LA Film Shop, LA TACO, Sunday Prerolls, and Dead Relatives Press.

Contagious Culture Volume 6 is a submission-based photography exhibition documenting art, culture, and everyday life through the eyes of the people living it. Featuring work from professionals and amateurs alike, these photographs were selected from thousands of submitted images. With a focus on Los Angeles, the exhibition brings together photographs of street life, protest, graffiti, skating, biking, music, urban exploration, and more.

Originally known as “F**k the Likes,” Contagious Culture celebrates authentic photography for art’s sake and the beauty and grit of our evolving culture. The series preserves moments that might otherwise disappear, giving them a life beyond the screen.

Since its first exhibition in 2019, the series has remained rooted in the same belief: the value of a photograph comes from what it captures, communicates, and makes us feel.

Hunter Biden’s work is coming to El Velorio this Saturday, October 10.

We stopped by to see Hunter and pick up his painting for the show. Excited to share this one in person!

El Velorio brings artists, musicians, and the community together to celebrate Día de los Mu***os, honoring those we’ve lost through art, music, and a celebration of life.

For its 16th anniversary, Superchief Gallery is co-curating the exhibition alongside Irene Hernandez and Manny Martinez at Plaza de la Raza.

Come for the art, stay for Sonido Dolores y su Conjunto, DJs Ritmos de Oro, and a full night of music and celebration.

Saturday, October 10
7 PM–1 AM • 21+
Plaza de la Raza
3540 Mission Rd, Los Angeles

Tickets at elvelorio.com and through the link in our bio. Swipe for the flyers and full artist lineup.
