RIVAA Gallery presents Augmented Humanity, a solo exhibition by Sophia Vitko

An exploration of the digital age through the slow medium of painting — we are augmented by phones, hooked into feeds, accompanied by AI. Humanoid robots are starting to look like us. Vitko’s deliberate choice to address these questions in an emphatically physical medium sits at the heart of the work.

Thank you to our loyal audience and amazing guest artists Sarah Darling and April Sun for a beautiful concert yesterday, Tender Things, to conclude the third season of Roosevelt Island Chamber Music Society. We experienced some real gems from the Romantic period repertoire, played with great sincerity, passion and gusto by the brilliant Sun and Darling. And, Thomas and Yi-heng were lucky enough to join in for some Schubert and Keith Jarrett as well!
Let’s keep spreading the word about how local, live music-making and concert gatherings like the RICMS can make a difference in the lives of our neighbors, ourselves, and for the cultural well-being and connection of our communities. It doesn’t take huge budgets, celebrity status, or big ticket sales to make joyful, excellent music happen. It takes belief in ourselves, support for the artists who labor passionately in our own neighborhoods, and exercising our own capacity for creativity, connection, kindness, and loving those right in front of us. Music and art keeps us in this space, so let’s keep doing it!  Stayed tuned for upcoming announcements about the RICMS 2026-2027 Season, www.ricmsociety.org photos

Tender Things is the final program of the RICMS season, featuring intimate, passionate works by Brahms 🎼 and Schubert 🎼.

This music hearkens back to the Salon culture of the 19th century 🕯️, where friendships and artistic connections formed in close, creative spaces and gave rise to chamber music masterpieces.

For Schubert and Brahms, chamber music was a form of exchange 💬 and profound conversation between friends, musicians, and artists.

Partners in life as well as music ❤️🎻, leading musical voices Sarah Darling (violist, founder of Grammy-winning ensemble A Far Cry) and April Sun (talented and visionary Boston pianist 🎹) celebrate friendship, family, and artistic bonds in this special program and appearance at RICMS.
