109 presents:
Alvin Lucier's "I am sitting in a room" (1969)
Friday, April 12, 7-10p
by Alec Hall and Ryan Krause
[closing celebration]
3 performances 7pm, 8pm, 9pm
Tomorrow is the last of seven performance-events to run during "I am sitting in a room different from the one you are in now." curated by Marysia Gacek, and is your final chance to see the show, featuring the work of Patrick Cole, Federico Del Vecchio, Dmitri Hertz, Lee Pucket and Maria Toumazou.
Come witness a special performance of Lucier's epochal work, from which Gacek's show drew its inspiration. See what happens when a recorded sound is played back into a room, and then rerecorded again and again (and again), "until the resonant frequencies of the room reinforce themselves," and watch how any additional noises (from the audience, street, etc.) might leave their footprint on that process.
Performance is free and the audience is encouraged to come and go as they please. And, it's Williamsburg 2nd Fridays, so all of our neighboring galleries will be open with receptions and events. Check out the other great artevents in the area.
